I am a New Jersey resident who was stopped by a police officer and summoned to court for not changing lanes while passing a police car with flashing lights in Virginia. Mr. Collier was extremely good to work with and his professionalism was way above expectations. I was originally schedule to work with his partner, David Carlson but due to an emergency I was recommended to him instead. Now, think about a highly specialized surgeon doctor, someone with a vast array of knowledge and steady hands. Also capable of explaining difficult terminology into layman's terms, always with a great attitude, and patience. Mr. Collier is definitely a doctor in his field. David Carlson is a horrible lawyer, the kind that gives most lawyers bad names. He only cares about himself and how much $$$ he can make off you and take advantage of your legal situation at the point you needed help the most. After you agree on the retainer fee and hire him, afterward, he will make your case sound so difficult and then request/demand more $$$ without or having to do extra work. His law and client skills are also not great neither. Stay away and do not hire this lawyer unless you like throwing away hard-earned $$$. Don’t believe all the good reviews on this site. I am pretty sure that our negative review/opinion would get deleted or not even posted. If we have more time to deal with it, we would have file a complaint to the Virginia State Bar. We would even give him one star but had to to post our review.

If I could give this law firm "Jud Collier" a zero if I could. Please please please stay away from this attorney. We hired him to represent my brother in a case. Our initial meeting was great of course telling us what he could and would do for the case. The moment we retained him, he became the hardest person to get in contact with. We would have to leave message after message at the office, via text messages and email which took days sometimes a week for him to return our calls. Secondly his story changed on how he would go about representing my brother as far as defense. All of a sudden the the case is so so hard ,difficult and not leaving him any ways to win the case or lessen charges but during the first meeting he was so confident that he could help.. Then after the case went to court oh let me not fail to mention going into court we didn't even know his defense before the trial. Let me just say his defense was a 'JOKE' and I repeat a " JOKE" he promised he would be taking some actions regarding the outcome of the case to help my brother... ummmmm well every call, text message and email as gone unanswered. I contacted him on November 11, 2018 and I still haven;t heard from him. All about the money !!!! He can not be trusted.. We paid this man over 10K and we would've gotten a better outcome representing ourselves in court.

Tony is a tremendously professional attorney that really knows his stuff. I contacted 2 attorneys offices prior to choosing Tony. Tony was confident and really seemed to understand the specific courthouse and immediately offered a plan. The second attorney I called was “cheaper” (and I think I understand why). He was negative and had zero optimism towards the case. He spoke to me as if he was the judge and stated the best I’d get was a reduced ticket. I hired Tony and in about 45 seconds in front of the judge “all charges were dismissed” ! I can’t promise everyone will have the same outcome, but hire good attorney like Tony to at least get the best outcome you can VS an attorney who’s already chosen your outcome during the consultation.

Where do I begin. Though I have never been in legal trouble before an alcohol-induced momentary lapse of judgement had me facing very serious charges for contravening the law. I was seeking solace in professional representation. I found that and so much more in this law firm specifically with my lawyer Edward Nickel. From the moment he received my case he was scrupulous in his attempts at finding me a resolution I would find equitable. He was extremely patient with me and asswaged a lot of my fears during the long four month process. Have not followed up from the last appt so not sure if this receptionist still there, displays this sweet disposition and then starts slamming and throwing things around all of a sudden while several of us were in the waiting room. Very bizarre behavior!. Scary!!. Some type of severe anger issues or nuerological thing going on. Looks to be about 65 to 70, maybe Dementia or drugs Just loses it for no reason, wasn’t even on the phone. Very weird. No way this person could have any coworkers. Not the get along, team player type. We just all stared at each other in disbelief. Never saw behavior like this before. However, great lawyer, beautiful office!.

He looked far and wide, and dug deep to find the best options for me when I was facing wreckless driving that involved alcohol, eluding, totalling my car, and fleeing the scene. Bob has worked as my Attorney in several cases and each time the results have been far better than I expected. An aggressive prosecutor once tried to overcharge me with a Felony but as soon as Bob walked in the courtroom you could see their mood change. By the time we left the court I had no Felony charges and got unsupervised probation for 6 months. I made a mistake and Bob was not going to let that mistake destroy my life. John Mayoras represented a member of my family recently. What a blessing John was to us. He patiently explained the consequences for the charges to him (which were felony charges).He reviewed all the facts before the trial.with him to be sure he had accurate information. John went over everything with him. John did everything he could to get the best outcome at the trial. John not only spoke with our family member but also spoke with us about what was going to happen in court. Most times lawyers don't even acknowledge the family that is very distraught over what is happening to their loved one. John may have been a court appointed attorney but we couldn't have gotten any better representation if we had hired an attorney. Mr. Mayoras is a rock solid attorney. If you want representation in a Northern Virginia criminal case, trust me, you will have no regrets if you select Mr. Mayoras as your Defense Attorney. In August 2015, my daughter was a victim of assault and pressed charges against her aggressor. The aggressor counter-charged my daughter. Mr. Mayoras was selected as her public defender. Prior to the hearing, Mr. Mayoras engaged with the prosecutor and maintained contact with us. On the day of the trial I observed other cases prior to ours being heard, I saw weak defense attorneys lose repeatedly to the tough prosecutor. As my daughter was called forward I started to worry. Mr. Mayoras was a rock solid attorney as he cross-examined the defendant who counter-charged my daughter capitalizing on every weakness and inconsistency. He not only had my daughter’s counter-charge dismissed but his piercing argument ensured that the aggressor received a conviction. I was absolutely impressed. A year later my son broke up with his girlfriend. In her anger, in March 2016, she chose to file charges of strangulation, assault, and battery saying that my son tried to kill her. A felony warrant was issued for the strangulation and a misdemeanor warrant was issued for the assault and battery. At that moment our lives changed forever. If convicted, my son, a United States Marine, was facing a five-year prison sentence and discharge from the military with no hope of ever finding decent employment in the United States. Life as he knew it would be over for the rest of his life. I called Mr. Mayoras to take the case even though I knew he only practiced in Northern Virginia. Although he warned me that he had no insight into the Norfolk courts, based on my previous observations, I believed that if anyone could save my son, it would be Mr. Mayoras. Upon taking the case, he did extensive research and kept us informed of his strategy to win. With months of preparation we went to trial in October 2016. Like my previous encounter in court a year earlier I observed multiple weak defense attorneys lose to the tough prosecutors leading to multiple convictions. At the end of the day, the last case to be heard, my son was called to trial. I started to get concerned as the prosecutor started to build a case against my son. However, as every prosecuting witness was brought forward, Mr. Mayoras processed every word that was stated exploiting every weakness and inconsistency in their testimony through cross-examination. He challenged the relevance of certain witnesses who as a result did not even get to testify. Then it was the time for the defense to take action. Short, straight, and to the point he built a bullet-proof defense with only two witnesses and the defendant. Sharp, smart, and one step ahead of the game, he even recalled one of the prosecuting witnesses and manipulated the individual to testify in favor of my son. The strength in the prosecutor’s case had dwindled by the end of the trial through the skill and mental agility of Mr. Mayoras. The judge dismissed both charges and my son was a free man with a life ahead of him. Think about it, Mr. Mayoras won this case despite having never entered the Norfolk courthouse previous to this. I challenge you not just to take my word for it. You have one chance to win or lose a case. Call him and find out when he is next in court. It will cost you nothing to see him first hand in action as he handles his case. I promise that you will be absolutely impressed. You don’t have to choose him, but please make your selection only after seeing him handle a case in court. I am in the military and am due to rotate to Florida next year. My only regret is that Mr. Mayoras is not bar certified in Florida! Good luck to you. Choose your defense attorney wisely.
