WARNING: simple divorce cost 38,000 dollars. Never went to court once. I was told I was family and would never hurt me. Well he did. My sister just passed away he did her final papers. My brother in law recommended him to me. I hired him for a certain amount of money but he decided to hand my case to another lawyer. Not telling me that she was going to charge me over 300.00 dollars an hour. There was many mistakes made many. I found out I was divorced from my kids. No call from my lawyer just and email that he charged me for but the email was way after the divorce was final. I have met with 4 lawyers who are sad that these kind of lawyers give them a bad name. Office staff will tell u he will be in the office today, a week later he will call u and say I was on vacation. Happens 6 times. Also he had 5 different people working on a divorce which means you pay all 5. Very unorganized overpriced lawyer. I would not recommend ANYONE to use this company. He didn't get anything for me other than the state law requires. Feeling ripped off taken advantage of. I stopped getting billing statements as soon as soon as he got a 40,000 lean against my home. He always said He would find out why no billing statements but of course never did. He made sure he used it all. Be very careful who u choose for a lawyer even if they say there family. Choose wisely!! Didn't finish my case the 38,000 did NOT cover the QDRO. Separation of retirement. Wanted a 1,000 to do it. Got it done for 300.00 by a respectable paralegal. If you need a lawyer call the BBB they will recommend you someone who will not RIP u off feeling defeated. Please choose wisely!!! Sterns and Sterns took a quarter of my earnings. Only got what the state law says so I could have hired anybody. Just beware!!!!! I also had a budget BUT he decided to stop billing me so he took off with my budget! Also paid to get my ex-husband's paychecks garnished and paid Ryan for it. I paid for it but it never happened. I will continue to tell people please call the BBB they will get you a lawyer and not take your money. Now that I have used Ryan and two other lawyers and a paralegal I know for sure that sterns and sterns over charged me by thoudands. I was told that $38,000 was way too much for what I got. Ryan made an agreement with me over the phone for a certain amount of money and decided to change All on his own. Please think about who you were hiring even if they say they are family look into their business find out not who they are as a person who they are as a businessman. I trusted him and so did my family but he has lost more respect than he will ever know. I just want people to be aware and know what they're getting and just because somebody says their family get it in writing. I tried to talk to Ryan and resolve this. He wouldn't budge he hardly had anything to say because he knew he was wrong. My new lawyer would have charged me at the very most $15,000. So just remember that when you go to look for a lawyer remember what Stearns and Stearns did to me and probably others too. Lawyers aren't rock stars! So years later I see all the charges I did not get sevice for. Beware call the BBB. Don't you think your lawyer would go over the divorce papers with you.? No no nothing he mailed me my divorce papers and never spoke to me about what I was getting. Also he never ever checked in to make sure my name was off the house loan. He really really screwed me over and if I were you I would not use him as a lawyer. Please look it up this lawyer has been disciplined by the licensing authorities. Look it up.

I can't say enough nice things about the lawyers at Stearns Kim & Stearns who helped me. I knew I couldn't afford a costly divorce, and they handled it beautifully. Ryan Stearns was really helpful in explaining to me how to get our property divided and support established, and even outlined a budget to get it done. He did explain to me that he couldn't guarantee staying on this budget, since litigation can be unpredictable, but I appreciated that he was upfront and honest about that. Fortunately they were able to keep my case on budget! I really liked how straightforward Mr. Stearns’ and his lawyers were, they were all so helpful! Mr. Karney by far was the only person i spoke to that managed to calm me way down really fast and not only told me but showed the ways he would get my daughter back in 3 days. And HE DID JST THAT MY DAUGHTER WAS BACK HOME IN. 3 DAYS i dnt knw what i would have done if i handt found mr. Karney and Homar hes been reliable and completely in control of the entire case i am truly grateful to these 2 individuals like i cant evwn describe. I am so glad I found Mark H. Karney and his team! I was about to hire another lawyer for my divorce and just before I signed that contract I decided to get another opinion and I'm SO glad I did. I was a client of Fernandez & Karney, whom worked tirelessly to settle my case. Please be aware that divorce brings out the worst in people and there are reviews here that are purely acts of revenge (ie, not from actual clients). I will try to be brief, but know that there's no way I can summarize all the things I'm happy about with regards to this firm! First, here's my advice on deciding on a family law firm: decide if you need a lot of attention/hand holding or if you're comfortable with a team approach. There are pros/cons to both. F&K is going to be a team approach, you will not deal with just one main attorney and their assistant/associate. But, F&K's team approach is more cost effective and I liked having multiple view points. I think this is where people get confused when dealing with a firm like F&K, you have to be flexible and know your case- no one is going to hold your hand the whole time, but you can choose to spend a lot more money for that kind of assistance. Their approach worked well for me, but might not be for everyone. Now, here's a little about the specifics of my case. I tried to settle all issues outside of court, but unfortunately my ex was set to fight on every matter. So, I had issues with every aspect of my divorce: support, child custody, division of assets and property, etc. Throughout the entire process, F&K faced much adversity, aggression and gaslighting from my ex. They were always professional, stood their ground, were ready with sound advice and fought very hard for my case. My case was extremely difficult and F&K was a rock of support! In the end, my settlement was good and bad. But this is what to expect when you're dealing with the uncertainty of the legal system- nothing is black and white, you must make concessions in order to move on with your life.

I was referred to Provinziano & Associates by my family lawyer here in Arizona because of their expertise in jurisdiction. Me and my ex had an informal written agreement that our kids would live with me in AZ through the school year and visit him in CA on school breaks. On spring break of this year, my ex did not put my kids back on the plane home and ghosted me for 2 days. Because of jurisdictional issues, I needed a CA attorney to represent me and make the case that my kids are residents of AZ so we could have our case here. Horrible service. Felt like he was on my husbands side the whole time. Wasted $5000 on nothing. I had to keep calling to see what was happening with my case. Could not confine in him. Charged me for ridiculous work, calls and emails. I ended up going back with my husband and stopped the divorce/case. I suggest a real lawyer. My husbands, Gille Kaye Law Group, PC . Pasadena CA. Great people nice and actually wanna do the work and help. They even gave back my husband his half deposit back $2,700. Unlike these people rip off, there only in it for the money.

We had multiple cases to face while Michael was representing me, and we literally won all of them. He maintained good communication an always worked with me when it came to money. Not once did he stress me about paying him etc. He fought for my daughter and I, and I could not thank him enough. I cannot speak highly enough of Whitmarsh Family Law. Michael has continuously gone above and beyond to provide the best service for me. When I first retained Michael as my attorney I was in a really tough spot and needed some legal help on an extremely tight timeline. He was able to make time for me right away and I was in his office preparing paperwork and within a couple hours of contacting him. He continued to work on my case well into the evening to make sure that everything was done correctly and ready to be filed with the court in the morning. He walked me through the process step by step and made sure I understood and was comfortable with each decision. WOW is the first word that comes to mind about Warren.  I had a tough case fighting for custody of my teenager.  It is hard to enforce custody orders when your child is older and it was imperative to have enforceable orders as the clock was running out.  His orders along with Ex Parte's to get the job done in the shortest time we could do, were amazing.  Warren knew just the orders to ask for that were enforceable.  If you are coming from your heart as a parent for the best interest of your child, taking steps towards that goal consistently and with determination. Gathered facts and data, and presented those in very clear, almost irrefutable Exhibits. I hired Warren Shiell to deal with a relatively straightforward matter involving the renegotiation of the final stages of my divorce agreement. While the legal aspects were not complicated, I needed someone who could help me plan out a strategy in advance (I came to him almost six months before a deadline mandated in the agreement) and be sensitive to the psychology of the situation. I’m sorry to report he was inattentive both to the case and to the notes I gave him about dealing with my ex, was difficult to reach, called out of the blue only when it suited him, failed to draft a proposal letter as I repeatedly ask him to do and then, with just a few weeks to go before deadline, disappeared on vacation for a month without any forewarning. The one document he produced was a strategy sheet, which largely reproduced work done by a forensic accountant (for which I had paid separately) and proved to be almost entirely unusable after I hired a new – fabulous, efficient, attentive and effective – attorney. After I dismissed him, it took him more than a month to provide a final billing and a check for the balance of my retainer, and then only after repeated reminders that became necessarily more insistent. In the wake of his dismissal, he charged three times as much for the last month as he had for previous four. He insisted he had charged me correctly for the work he put in, but I saw scant evidence that that was the case. I was deeply disappointed because Mr. Shiell came warmly recommended as a tough but fair-minded divorce lawyer who charged reasonable rates and gave clients their money’s worth. That was not my experience, on any front. Perhaps he didn’t find my case all that interesting. If so, he should have turned me down and/or referred me elsewhere, not wasted my time and my money. Others beware.

Best attorney ever! She is an amazing person. I found her based on her good reviews on google. I can’t believe what she has done for me so far. She knows everything and she is a very experienced attorney. I was totally lost, and she helped me to solve my problem. I had a divorce case with a bunch of narrow areas, but she helped me to finish that chaos. She is very responsible and loyal to her work. She won’t waste your time. She won’t charge you extra or for nothing.( this is a very important part, usually you get charges from your attorney and you don’t even know why!? Karen Brown is by far the best family law attorney I have ever worked with!! I was working with a couple of attorneys from San Diego that completely ruined my current family custody case. My previous attorneys took advantage of my situation and didn't do anything in my best interest and against by wishes. I had 5 attorneys before I I hired Karen Brown. I had spent a lot of money and had gotten nothing. Two of my lawyers worked with my ex wife's lawyers and I was sent down the river without a paddle. Karen took a difficult case and fought for me because she cared about the children and believed me. Karen is ethical and truly represents her client with loyalty.. Thank you Karen Brown that I now spend such wonderful times with my two daughters.

I wish divorce on nobody. It is about one of the ugliest things one can experience; but, of course, it is also one of life's unfortunate realities. Because of its inflammatory nature, who you have in your corner fighting for you is crucial. I had an unusual case in that I was already divorced (foolishly I was unrepresented in the initial proceedings) but my ex-wife was planning on relocating with my children to a different city (without my consent). Because I had no representation the first time around, I got completely squeezed financially with a support schedule I couldn't handle, and I needed it reduced legally. I interviewed three other divorce attorneys before a friend recommended Beverly Hills family law specialist Karen Brown. Every attorney I spoke with told me that I had a case, but Karen got the ball rolling immediately. She demonstrated her expertise in the area of family law, and I could tell that she was tough, and that's what I wanted, as I was dealing with some irresponsibly ruthless people and needed somebody strong by my side. Karen was definitely that. She was tough on me too, which was good because she prepared me for the difficult questions I would surely face in court (and which I did). Karen was thorough and always open for communication. Although it wasn't cheap (I only bring this up so you don't fool yourself in believing there will be an inexpensive way out, as some family law attorneys will lead you to believe. It just isn't so), she was mindful of my financial situation and allowed me to take care of anything I could that would keep costs down. When it became apparent that the other side was not willing to negotiate on any issue, Karen was an excellent strategist, making moves that ultimately secured our argument--I could not have asked for more. Come game day, Karen was prepared and solid in the courtroom, and everything turned out alright. Although I was unsuccessful at stopping the relocation, I received a great custody schedule--fair with time made up during summer for that which I'd lose as a result of the move away--my support obligation was lowered to a more reasonable schedule, and most importantly my ex-wife learned that she couldn't just arbitrarily and unilaterally make decisions regarding the children without a strong response from Karen's office, which ultimately has kept her in check. Again I say I wouldn't wish divorce on anyone, but if it is unavoidable, you need a strong professional in your corner, someone who understands family law comprehensively and who will be there for you during tough times, and not just dump you off on an inexperienced associate. I cannot recommend Los Angeles divorce attorney Karen Brown highly enough. For one of the most important decisions you may ever make--hire Karen Brown: you will not be disappointed.

Prior to hiring Karen, I had 5 attorneys, and $100,000 later. Two of these unethical attorneys betrayed me and worked with my ex's attorneys. The other 3 were useless and were intimidated by ex's attorneys. My ex came from lots of family money and very legally savvy and played the divorce court game extremely well. She hired two and three attorneys at a time, and they lied and coerced, and pressured me to agree to their demands. When Karen came on the scene, things changed for me and my children. She believed me and in me, and in the truth, and never gave an inch to the requests of my ex's attorneys. She stood strong and in the end the judge saw the true picture. I now enjoy great times with my two daughters, the two most important people in my life. Thanks to Karen's ethical standards, and care for the truth, and what is good for the children my life looks far brighter than it did when I had the worst representation with the previous 5 attorneys.
