Mr. Cook represented me after learning my ex forged my signatures in divorce documents and filed in CA when neither of us lived there so CA had no jurisdiction. It was an open and shut case. I hired a handwriting expert who found that the signature was not mine and Mr. Cook mailed my ex a hearing notice. I was not confident that the address I had for him was current so I asked Mr. Cook to email him as well (he said he would and never did). his communication is terrible and he isn’t organized. Hearing date comes and I’m embarrassed by the way Mr. Cook stammers over his words and poorly articulates hisself. The judge sets a new court date because my ex didn’t appear and she wants proof that he was notified (Mr. Cook insists that he was and says he has proof but a few weeks later tells me that he actually received the letter back in the mail). a week before the new hearing Mr. Cook tells me he is going to mail out the hearing notice, I tell him it should’ve been mailed out there isn’t enough time, he insists it will be delivered next day knowing the address is in Afghanistan... I tell him he needs to email my ex who responded and Mr. Cook had a lengthy (the bill for it was pretty high and I would not have wanted him to even do more than just notify him) conversation with my ex on the phone then proceeded to tell me that my ex doesn’t know we are notifying him late and as long as the judge doesn’t mention it that I will be fine. My ex shows up to the next court date and the matter is settled. The judge ruled in my favor on the forgery but no thanks to Mr. Cook. My ex admitted it was not my signature. The judge did not rule for my ex to have to pay my legal fees. Mr. Cook tried to argue with the judge who shut him down because he didn’t properly file his paperwork so the court couldn’t rule on any other matter. I ended up paying so much for the hand writing expert which the judge requested to be there for the second case but only because my ex didn’t show up... the expert didn’t even have to testify at the second date and all of his fees. DO NOT HIRE HIM!

In the middle of a crisis, like a divorce where you need a lawyer, you need someone who can help you make sense of just about everything. Lowenstein Brown does just that! Michele and Liz are an incredible team, and they have a wonderful support staff! They focus on your goals and what you want (they like to point out “it is your life, and when we are gone you have to be happy with this”). They lay out the process and expectations very clearly. They work well with support counsel and outside specialists. You expect your lawyers to be good at the law – it was a wonderful experience to find two people who also have great compassion and sensitivity to what you are going through. Liz Brown represented my ex (I was pro per at the time), and lied to the judge about ownership of my daughter's college account. She told the judge that it was owned jointly by my husband and me, attempting to seize the funds for reunification costs. After I retained counsel, my lawyer was able to show the judge the documentation (which the judge himself had signed a few months prior) that proved that the college account was legally owned by my daughter. My ex was fined $2,000 for the lie. Liz Brown was not honest, inflicting on me an unnecessary court hearing to have to fight for my daughter's college fund. I would never recommend this lawyer, unless you want someone willing to lie and cheat for you.

In my first meeting with Michele, Liz and their support staff, I knew I had selected the very best attorneys to handle my case. Couple years of ago we have problem first with our adoption being contested. We got through with that issue with excellent help from Atty Lowenstein & Brown. Then it became an visitation rights issue and again with professional assistance from both Attys now we able to have a peace of mind. We have interviewed couple of lawyers but decided to hire them because we felt comfortable talking to them and gave us the real scope of the case with no promises. Also, the staff are very professional especially Katina. They are in constant contact with us with changes or need for more information.

I had great expectations for Ben and his crew, but what I got was subpar legal representation to say the least.. Sons mom filed a move away request out of the blue, and at first I was even contemplating whether, or not to even hire an attorney,because her allegations were so farcical, over the top, completely untrue, unfounded, and unbelievable. but with so much at stake I decided I would play it safe, and just pay the professionals. From the start I had questions about what was going on with my case, Ben, and his crew, are good at making invoices , and running up the bill, but they will not work for you. During the months leading up to the,” $8000 dollar train wreck”. I was never prompted for evidence, I was never called I had to voluntarily scan, and PDF evidence over to his office on my own, sometimes I would get a confirmation email, other times I would not. I asked if I could bring my emails, pictures, and text messages in for them to scan, and build my case file, but they fully took advantage of the COVID-19 restrictions saying, “ they weren’t allowing people personal visits into the office, because of the COVID”. This was another way they could focus on bringing in new retainer fees, and focus on the money aspect of it, opposed to the defense, and actual representation aspect of it. Guys do not hire these people, they will loose your case, you have been warned. On the day of the evidentiary hearing, evidence linking mom to illicit activities, gambling, and prescription drug abuse, was not presented. In addition threats made to me by other parties on moms side, like death threats, threats to come to my house, pictures of new gun purchases, and people holding them,that were sent to me, were not presented at the hearing. Upon cross examining me, Ben repeatedly asked me questions related to corporal punishment of my son, and stepson, the purpose of which, I still have not figured out. In the end the Judge ruled capriciously , chopping up family code section “ 3040” , while Ben just sat there like a deer in the headlights. I lost the half custody of my son, to a person with a history of bad child parenting, with a history of violent convicted felons, and drug addicts in the home. My exhibit list was virtually non existent, very few documents, half irrelevant, the other half of the exhibits indiscernible. Instead of quickly discrediting mom, and mounting a solid defense, against, a "I said so therefore, it must be allegation", Ben was unprepared, and made us both look bad. If O.J. Simpson was found not guilty again for another murder, it would not be more egregious, it could not be anymore off base than the train wreck that Ben, and his “ wrecking crew”, managed to create for me. Unbelievably there is more, In the end I asked them, “ to file a substitution of attorney”, with the court so that I could get get their incompetent rear ends off my case, and of course they dragged their feet for another two weeks, and I was not able to file a “peremptory challenge” in time, to ask for a new judge for my upcoming motions. I was very nice, and did not bother them, while they were on my case, in fact, this is the first time I have expressed my frustration with them They did not put the work in that they billed me for, and therefore, Ben was unprepared for what should have been an easy case, a case that was textbook example of what female on male domestic violence looks like. "I said so, so therefore it must be evidence". I paid $8000 dollars,and it made my problem much.much worse. Horrible job!

I've been with Men's Legal Center for years. My ex-wife has taken me to court multiple times throughout the years since our divorce. My first attorney unfortunately past away but he was awesome. Fast forward to 2020 and the law firm isn't the same. I 4 trials this year alone. Two of them I was trying to change visitation. Out of all 4 trials, Men's Legal Center did not win away! My child support over quadrupled. Visitation didn't change. And my ex-wife's lawyers were ruthless & made me look extremely bad in the courts eyes. Men Legal Center made my situation why worse. Stay clear of Men's Legal Center. They were a great law firm, they were.

I found this website while searching for someone who could provide guidance for my son on a pending divorce.... I felt lost in my google search, but as I looked at the Mens Legal Center, i focused on the reviews of individuals... some were not flattering, but the name Francisco Berata consistently revealed excellent comments.. so, I took a chance and called the office and left a message for him... he called me back! He talked at length with me as I shared background on my son's situation and challenges ( plenty of them). Francisco was polite, understanding, knowledgeable and willing to invite my son in for a free consultation to hear his needs and to guide him to next steps... THANK you, Francisco, for your patience and compassion... Awesome!!

Mens Legal Firm plays this game where they pass you around the firm to different lawyers and ask for court hearings to be rescheduled to extend the your service. Meanwhile your bill is going up. I am Active Duty Navy. While deployed to Japan there wasn't much I can do with the courts from overseas so I hired Mens Legal Service to help me and they passed me around and rescheduled court dates for 4 years. I 100% do not recommend this place. I never write reviews. My service was so bad I had to take the time out to warm others to go some place else. I got divorced 4 years ago and I am still paying, actually let me rephrase that, I am still getting charged. I argue and beg with my representation to file motions to the court, to get answers from child support services and no one got back to me. I divorced my wife, gave her the marital assets, custody, alimony and child support. All I ask for was visitation with my children. All I ever wanted was for the visitation agreement to be modified. THAT'S IT! Mens Legal Firm plays this game where they pass you around the firm to different lawyers and ask for court hearings to be rescheduled to extend the your service. Meanwhile your bill is going up. The first lawyer their died, then the next 2 lawyers quit. Even the paralegal or secretary or what ever there title is quit. Each time someone quit or pass my case around I would fill the next person in on the situation and the current representation would start from the beginning and get no where. My ex-wife is very uncooperative so what I wanted was a motion to have the judge decide on visitation. The lawyers argued with me and told me they would try to call my ex and email her and work it out. They all got no where and charged me for the phone calls and emails. I screamed that I didn't want them to talk to my ex and they did not listen. Be prepared to be played with and charged.

I knew full well, as a military father in a divorce case, in CALIFORNIA, was going to get a raw deal by their liberal judges. But towards the end of my case my hired attorney left their firm and left me with an attorney who had no idea what he was doing. He even leaned over and whispering, asked..."you were in the navy right?" I could have saved a retainer fee and better represented myself. I absolutely recommend Yvonne Rizzo for family legal services!! With an already burdening schedule, I was in and out of court with my children's mother consistently. Repeated motions for ridiculousness. My attempt was to be reasonable. However, after a completely false narrative and even a restraining order I felt as the court would believe anything they were told. After contacting Yvonne, I was not only relieved to have her caring and professional legal services on my side, I was impressed by the ability to finally be stress free and focus on my schedule, knowing I had yet another court date. I highly recommend Yvonne Rizzo Family Law Attorney to anyone not being treated fairly in the courtroom and in need of Legal Representation. I have been going through family law for a year now with 9 months of no legal representation. Eventhough I was no threat to my child and the mother is an alcoholic with prior DUI's just got arrested for a DUI, the court granted her full sole and physical custody and for me 10% visitation with 0% sole legal or physical custody. For the first 9 months I was constantly getting mistreated in the courtroom eventhough there were hard evidence of proof and proof of lies against the opposing party due to a bias judge. Out of the 9 months the mother of my child withheld my daughter from me for 5 months. During the 5 months I filed 3 ex-parte hearings due to visitation violation of court orders and safety concerns with proof and still got dismissed, 1 hearing was cancelled and not even heard by the judge stating it's " Not an emergency". Since i hired Atty. Rizzo, not only was I able to be heard without being turned away but she was able to get me visitations with my daughter again after 5 months but with more time and days with overnights too. I now have 35% visitation with 4-5 days every week with my daughter and looks to get better from here on. Thank you Mrs. Rizzo.

DO NOT USE THESE GUYS! I initially spoke to Zephyr Hill who agreed to be my attorney. However, when he sent me the retainer agreement he switched me without notice to Michael Steiner- WHO IS A HORRIBLE ATTORNEY! I should have dropped them then. Basically Steiner would respond to emails and phone calls sporadically at best and when you speak to him he seems to have his mind elsewhere. The last straw was when he agreed to file an ex parte on my behalf, however, after I followed up with him days later he tells me " I decided not to file it." No explanation for not communicating this to me. I will be filing a complaint with the state bar. VERY DISAPPOINTED!

Julie was wonderful during my case. I had an unusual situation and Julie was clear on how the outcome may play out. She does not sugar coat anything and fights tooth and nail for the protection of the child and encourages her clients to make rational and healthy decisions during their case. ZERO STARS ACTUALLY!!! I reached out to Julie Wolff to represent me in court so I can file for 50/50 custody of my children, modify visitation, and modify child support. She sent me an intake form to fill out which I had filled out same day and sent it back. Julie followed up with me to have a 20 minute consultation. Julie is not my first lawyer and I have never heard of a 20 minute consultation. After she quickly ended that phone call her main concern was how she was accepting first payment or retainer. I told her multiple times on the phone that my insurance covers my payment in full for custody and visitation. I told her, the only thing I would have to pay is for child support and that is a reduced rate of 25% of regular rate bye attorney. Along with me explaining that to her verbally I also emailed her all of my case assist confirmation numbers MULTIPLE TIMES. These numbers pull up my case and EXPLAIN WHAT I AM COVERED UNDER AND HOW PAYMENT OF ATTONEY FEES WORK FROM MY INSURANCE. My insurance also advices any attorneys that do not know the coverage for said plan member to call direct and they will happily assist them in what is covered. This was too much for Julie to do and she asked that I call to verify what she will be payed and too email her with what they say. Aside from what I am covered under, I also said I don't care what I need to pay or how much it will cost I just need to get the ball rolling for my paperwork, because everyday that goes bye is affecting my children. Still did not matter. She kept requesting papers that I have emailed to her 3 different times at this point, and would not accept a phone call, text message or physical appointment to straighten the confusion out. What she did instead was email me the same email three different times requesting what I have already sent her. SEE MY FRUSTRATION!!!??? Julie did not try helping, calling, or explaining anything to me to try and get her what she needs. She felt sending the same email two more times (which clearly was in confusion) was the best and most professional way of handling that, thus leading me to not even accept her as an attorney being as difficult as she was. When people seek out Attorneys I personally do not feel that whomever they choose to represent them, should make they're life simply more difficult with no clear direction. In my benefit she made it very easy for me to know what kind of Attorney I am looking for, so, Thank you Julie Wolff... I see you come back at people with negative reviews and attack their character thus proving my point of unprofessionalism. please don't attack my character this was a review of your work ethic and how you handle your Law Firm. STEP IT UP!!! Please do not try saying that I am a "BOGUS SCAMMER" either, I am very real.

I highly recommend Tara Yelman and her team. I used Yelman & Associates in my divorce. She was ethical, provided outstanding advice through this trying time, and I found her billing to be transparent and highly efficient. I found her to always be better prepared than her opposing counsel. She was always the one to recommend creative ways to resolve negotiation sticking points. And her knowledge of the law and judicial procedure in court was outstanding -- helping to shorten the process and work with me and my ex to find solutions that worked for both of us. Even after the proceedings, she has provided ongoing guidance for how to manage the issues that pop up post divorce -- which has been crucial in helping my family move on from the process. Hands down all the way for Tara Yelman. She was g-d sent. A true attorney who wants the best for their client. I've met with other lawyers prior to retaining her. There are a lot of attorneys who are just there for your money and don't want to work hard including after hours, holidays, weekends. They just want to settle and take the easy way out. Unlike, Tara she put her 110% into your case and her expert advice is incredible. She's worth every PENNY! She works nights, weekends and even holidays if there is something serious. Remember folks, stuff happens when its after "office hours" or you get served for an Emergency hearing on Friday at 4 pm to appear in court on Monday or Tuesday morning. You have to be ready for whatever comes your way! Tara ,you are the best including your right hand Geoff and others!!

I went through a "very challenging" divorce with 4 children that kept me in court for a decade on and off. I used another firm with two different lawyers and was able to measure how effective they were as compared with Sara @ Yelman. Without hesitation, I can say Sara and her team were twice as effective at half the cost. I cannot begin to express the complexity of my situation, but it was challenging given the circumstances. Unfortunately I became fairly experienced at the process, language and arguments used in my cases over the past 10 years. I've seen the quality of the arguments made on my behalf and Sara always had clear thoughts and rational behavior with opposing counsel and the court. The team at Yelman did great work. Most important in this process is the cost. Clients are often driven apart by their lawyers, which benefits only the firms involved. Trust me -- I experienced this before Yelman, as did my ex. Sara did not inflame for the benefit of further court actions (and therefore fees). She protected me as a client but was always rational about the options presented to me concerning my decisions. Moving to Yelman over the past 4 years was the best financial choice I made over this extraordinarily challenging phase of my life. I am so grateful for their representation and guidance, and I highly recommend them for complex family law representation.

Second time I've worked with this law firm, specifically Mr. Matteson. On my own personal experience Scott and Matteson Family Law have worked in the most professional manner. They respond fast to all phone calls, message, etc. Mr. Matteson is on top of his game! Straight forward type of lawyer that will guide the case to the right path. Even though my case was dismissed on my behalf he always kept me on the loop as to what evidence is needed on my part to prove a compelling case. If I have to go back to family court again I will definitely hire Mr. Matteson again. Thank you!

Mr Scott has been in the game for a minute. He is well seasoned and very much respected within his profession. If your looking for the cream of the crop well god must be on your side , cause you found it!! In my case, I tried to settle on my own. Opposing counsel was very aggressive and pushed me to a point where I had to hire someone. I am so thankful for James Scott and his office for guiding me through this difficult process. Mr. Scott educated me, protected me, and fought for me. Maria Taylor goes above and beyond! My case was tough, contentious, and the opposing party did everything they could to drag it out as long as possible.
