Joe is not your typical attorney. We were referred to Joe Carnohan by a friend, The case had become extremely difficult over the first year with a different attorney. Joe took the case and did an amazing job. Not only was he knowledgeable but professional and presented his case extremely well. We were very impressed when one of the judges acknowledged his ability to make difficult cases work in the pass and wanted to know what was so different about this case. Joe explained and we one that hearing. Joe has a history of taking difficult cases and getting everybody to work together. He took our case, in the middle and still did an outstanding job!! His legal assistant, Michelle, also outstanding, and always there. Both were very helpful in easing the emotions, explaining how everything works and what to expect. My ex and I split up when our minor daughter was 13. I had a nasty custody battle with him where he wouldn't allow me to see her. I was worried that her academic and social life would be affected. Rich helped me fought this case. One of the best advice Rich gave me was to move near my daughter's school, which I did. Moving across the street from her school made it really convenient for her. Although the court awarded a 50/50 custody, my daughter stayed with me almost 100% of the time. She just recently graduated #3 among her 2014 graduating class of 541 students and the top 1% in the San Diego School District. Thank you Rich for all your help!

I will do you a huge favor, Avoid this law firm they don't care about you or your situation. I couldn't understand why I can't get a return call or at least a email. After three weeks and several calls to the office I was assured several times by the receptionist they were hard at work on my case. Straight up lie. Upon my final call expressing my disappointment I was assured that Alexandra was going to work on my case that weekend and they would call me next week. I heard that several times just a different person in their office. They do not respect or care about their clients. Do yourself a favor, hire anyone even a personal injury attorney could do a better job.

I needed a local attorney to help me through my divorce. Ms. Mcintosh was rude, horribly unorganized, non responsive and slow. The revolving door in her front office staff should be an indication to run. It took over 2+ years to finalize the divorce which cost me not only in unnecessary legal fees, but also loss in the settlement. I finally switched to another attorney to finalize the settlement. She also charged higher rates than our contract outlined which I am having to dispute with her in arbitration. I would highly recommend researching other attorneys in the area.

I am satisfied with how my case was handled by Alexandra McIntosh. I came to her four years ago with a very tough case. I was in a poor mental state and had just ended a very long term volatile marriage. I wasn't much help to my case and honestly didn't want to deal with it. Alexandra NEVER made me feel bad or crazy for how I was feeling. In fact she believed in me and guided me to take action with the police department to protect myself which I did and today I am protected! She also guided me to seek other measures outside her office which I did and am grateful today for that! In a divorce their are no winners. Most of the end result was fair in my opinion! There were elements of the case that were too tricky and I did not want to pursue. So would I hire her again? Most definitely!

Thomas dropped the ball on my case in many ways, then left the firm on suddenly during negotiations so I had to start over with a new attorney. I had a very high stress situation ongoing (a child with cancer in and out of the hospital) during this process. I Don’t recommend my experience was financially draining & emotionally exhausting.

I am extremely grateful for all of the hard work and dedication! Fischer and Van Thiel was able to shed light on common family law questions and take some of the mystery out of custody matters. We’ve gone from battling with visitation, making decisions about the upbringing and welfare to both parents equally participating in raising our child while living separately. It all didn’t happen overnight, but attorney Craig Van Thiel and his staff have achieved unparalleled success and most importantly have done so for the benefit of me and my daughter. Michael and his staff did a great job of representing me and my best interests during my divorce. They provided me with sound counsel, professional administrative support and walked me through what was a confusing legal process. I started off thinking I could represent myself against my ex and her lawyer....how quickly I learned the divorce process in California is a racket and a nightmare. Mike's team stepped right in, coordinated everything and saw it through to a successful end. A good portion of my divorce was long distance due to working out of state. Michael represented me in court when necessary to ensure everything was on track. During required sessions with both parties, Michael kept me focused and urged me to stay civil and unemotional in search of a resolution. After 3 years of using attorney Jeffrey Fritz of Basie and Fritz a friend recommended I talk to Erik Jenkins. I am so glad I did! I was married for 21 years and I was misled to settle out of court with my ex because Fritz said it would settle everything quickly. I should NOT have signed a settlement and should let the court settle my divorce. My divorce would have been done in less than a year. Fritz started making demands to opposing council for account statements and financial documents with no avail. Fritz encouraged me to sign a settlement with my ex. Then the circus began. Emails not returned by Fritz for over 3 weeks, litigation delays, court dates delayed, questions never answered, demand dates not met by opposing counsel were ignored for months, etc... . My last hearing with Basie and Fritz I got to the court and I was rudely told by Jeffery Fritz that he would be representing me that day because the attorney that had represented me in court for over 3 years had died a few days before. In over 3 years he had never appeared in court for me. He was not up to speed on my litigation and horribly failed me in court that day. He had a hearing problem and couldn't even hear the judge or the opposing counsel's remarks. After 3 years of Jeffrey Fritz and Basie and Fritz prolonged bad representation a friend that is an attorney told me to talk to Erik Jenkins. Erik was a courteous, punctual, and got right to the point. I decided to change attorneys and hired Erik. He immediately made demands for documents and account statements that we had been legally demanding for years to get from my ex. If demands were not met in time Erik was right on top of it. Erik never let delays by my ex's attorney go past demand dates and made opposing council accountable for delays. My case was done very quickly after hiring Erik. Divorce is painful for families to go through. Attorneys like Jeffrey Fritz of Basie and Fritz, and Dunne and Dunne (my ex's attorney) just prolong the process, make it more painful for families, and create friction between the parties all for their financial benefit. Deplorable! I will forever be thankful to Erik Jenkins for expeditiously bringing my divorce litigation to an end. I highly recommend Jenkins P.C. and recommend that you don't hesitate to dump a bad attorney to hire Erik.

My initial encounter with Mr.Jenkins involved a child custody issue. He immediately informed me I did not need him after spending 20+ minutes of his valuable time with me for free. My 2nd issue arose over an ex hitting my fiancee & myself with restraining orders. Mr. Jenkins killed both TROs at a reasonable price expeditiously. I've been working with lawyers on a daily basis for over a decade and this man is the finest, most aggressive, yet most reasonable, attorney I've encountered. Thank you Sir. My family will now go to you for absolutely everything. We are very impressed.

Erik and his team are amazing. I can't say enough good things about this group. Erik helped me through a very tough divorce and was able to avoid litigation. Other family law groups want to pile on ridiculous paperwork to pad their bills, Erik is the exact opposite. He was more than capable of going head to head with aggressive, overly litigious lawyers, but kept a cool head and would always look for the win win situation to speed resolution and help lower costs. He and his group were always available and helpful during the most stressful time in my life. There is no great divorce, but if I ever had to do it again, i will definitely find Erik.

Stay away from Ms. Hearn unless you want incompetent representation and someone who only cares about cashing your checks. She "represented" a close friend in a custody dispute her with ex-husband. I am aware of everything she did and didn't do during the time she represented my friend as I was left to help clean up some of the mess. Ms Hearn failed to communicate with or respond to my friend repeatedly, failed to timely file important documents, claimed she served her adversary on dates when she never did, and failed to write letters to opposing counsel after repeated requests to do so. One of the letters she did write had to be completely rewritten because it looked like it was written by a third grader. My friend was forced to hire another local attorney and now she is severely prejudiced because of Ms. Hearn's gross ineffective assistance. The absolute ONLY thing she cares about is getting paid. I'd search for another attorney in the area if you need help because Ms. Hearn is not the answer you are looking for.

I have used this firm three times in 10 years. Five stars each time. Divorce in 2010 with David representing me, then a property dispute with my ex in 2016 that worked out very favorably for me, and finally in helping me with a prenup (no jokes about not learning my lesson). Kyle is an easy going "surfer dude" who knows his stuff. When my fiance's lawyer wanted to add language at the last minute, he made a very reasonable and convincing argument (in front of that other lawyer) that was a slam dunk for my side. I hope I never need their services again but I would definitely recommend them. If you hire them, they are on your side and not trying to gouge you with superfluous "lawyer" billings.

Me and my husband were served papers from my 11 year old daughters father who had NEVER been involved with her EVER, but in between stints in prison, all of a sudden wanted custody and visitation. Went to court 3 times, due to him being arrested numerous times during the court proceedings. Finally we decided to get a lawyer to stop playing these games. We met Scott, and IMMEDIATELY knew we picked the right lawyer!! He ABSOLUTELY killed it in court, and actually got his RIGHTS TERMINATED......which in California is extremely difficult. If I can tell anyone who needs help, CALL SCOTT and JUSTINE!!!! They are the most honest and hardworking lawyers EVER!!!! I know that my situation is unique, but SCOTT AND JUSTINE ARE AMAZING!!!!! I absolutely recommend Yvonne Rizzo for family legal services!! With an already burdening schedule, I was in and out of court with my children's mother consistently. Repeated motions for ridiculousness. My attempt was to be reasonable. However, after a completely false narrative and even a restraining order I felt as the court would believe anything they were told. After contacting Yvonne, I was not only relieved to have her caring and professional legal services on my side, I was impressed by the ability to finally be stress free and focus on my schedule, knowing I had yet another court date. I highly recommend Yvonne Rizzo Family Law Attorney to anyone not being treated fairly in the courtroom and in need of Legal Representation. I have been going through family law for a year now with 9 months of no legal representation. Eventhough I was no threat to my child and the mother is an alcoholic with prior DUI's just got arrested for a DUI, the court granted her full sole and physical custody and for me 10% visitation with 0% sole legal or physical custody. For the first 9 months I was constantly getting mistreated in the courtroom eventhough there were hard evidence of proof and proof of lies against the opposing party due to a bias judge. Out of the 9 months the mother of my child withheld my daughter from me for 5 months. During the 5 months I filed 3 ex-parte hearings due to visitation violation of court orders and safety concerns with proof and still got dismissed, 1 hearing was cancelled and not even heard by the judge stating it's " Not an emergency". Since i hired Atty. Rizzo, not only was I able to be heard without being turned away but she was able to get me visitations with my daughter again after 5 months but with more time and days with overnights too. I now have 35% visitation with 4-5 days every week with my daughter and looks to get better from here on. Thank you Mrs. Rizzo.

I had the great pleasure of meeting Tammy a couple months back when I was unaware of how the family court system works. I was apprehensive about everything. Luckily I ha Tammy to give me the piece of mind and the with her expertise in the court system that I felt I was going to be ok. I recently discovered Tammy and her Tuesday night support group through Meet Up, and regret not having connected with her much earlier in our divorce process! No matter how you look at it, going through a divorce is expensive - even if mediation is your ticket through. I've been to see my $450/an hour attorney several times in the process, my husband has seen his the same number of times at the same cost, and we have seen our mediator - at the same cost - several times - all of which were at least 2-3 hours! Each time I've met with my attorney, or our mediator, it's been difficult for me to keep up to understand this completely foreign language while watching the $$$ signs multiplying in these meetings. Each time, I have walked out more confused and with more questions and feeling more overwhelmed than when I walked in, even after doing the research, talking to friends, and doing everything I know possible to be prepared for the meetings. Tammy is a "real person" who speaks my language, and has been able to patiently, clearly, explain the legal documents and procedures in a very chill, relaxed manner and environment. She runs the group from 6-7:30, but has never seemed to care if our group is still there much later, her only interest is that we understand and are empowered to face our next meetings, or court dates. She is extremely well versed on the financial aspects of the divorce process! I love that she encourages us to remember what's really important in the process, and what is not - fighting for every last dime is not going to make things easier, but understanding how to compromise and why it's important - for the sake of the kids, and/or the peace with the ex spouse and her/his family is what will matter most going forward. Her patience is incredible as I've observed how she meets each person who comes in where they are - no matter how emotionally charged - with the facts, the perspective, and the tools/verbiage, to get through the process as peacefully, and as inexpensively as possible. I hesitate to point out that she charges nothing for these meetings, because it's really difficult for me to wrap my brain around that in this arena where every moment of time is billable. She cares, she sincerely wants to help us out, and she wants as many people to know about what she can offer as possible. With that said, she and her husband, a family law attorney, do mediation for couples together, and of course, they welcome the business. I so wish I had known about them before we got into the process, and would have used them as a team to mediate for us because they have a very succinct, efficient process they use, and have found to be successful for their clients. Thank you Tammy - you really are a gem!
