I engaged this attorney to represent me in a post-divorce case. I found this attorney to be less than professional when it came to billing matters. I will give few examples here He has another attorney - John who helps in drafting petitions. My petition moved around between these attorneys and each time I was billed twice given the agreement that I would be billed based on the “time spent”. As a result, for a simple initial petition, I ended up paying twice as much and the initial costs to file petition itself ran in to thousands. He has an assistant who prepares files for court appearances and submits petitions. She billed me for the time spent on “file preparation for the court date”. When William would write me a letter regarding the updates after court appearances, instead of emailing me, he would use his stationary - letter head. His assistant would then write her own elaborate email and forward me William's letter as a pdf attachment. For these simple administrative tasks (submitting petitions/memorandum to the court, forwarding William’s updates), she billed me at $250/Hr which is just as much as regular attorney rates in Chicago. He also drafted needless petitions without consulting me and billed me for the same. They were never used in the litigation. For the pretrial, his co-attorney wrote the memorandum and then he reviewed it, again did final review and then again spent time on it in preparation for pre-trial. The only point I am able to provide to his credit is that he filed petitions timely and was present on court dates. But I would have expected this from any professional lawyer. There are some reputable lawyers on the Clark street and in my opinion, this particular firm is not among them.

Candace, was a dream come true as an attorney. She was sympathetic, and knowledgeable. She was extremely professional dealing with an emotionally abusive ex husband, who tried to control and take over the divorce proceedings. She constantly checked in with me, made me feels supported listened to me about what my goals and concerns were during the divorce, and responded quickly, regarding any issue. Thanks to her, we got through a very difficult situation quickly and she made sure my needs were not run over but respected the entire time. If you can have a good experience during a divorce, she was my absolute light in a very dark tunnel.

I came to Marie Fahnert with a difficult divorce challenge and detailed to her specifically what I was hoping to accomplish. She was forthright about where I should set my expectations (as they were initially both too high and too low) and we began developing a sensible legal strategy that allowed me to do some of legwork (to keep fees reasonable). What I quickly discovered is that Marie is a hard-working (and sometimes overworked), thoughtful, honest family law attorney. There is no glitz or attitude or pretense. I always felt like I was getting straightforward counsel. Two particular areas of her practice deserve praise. She shines in her research, writing and preparation. And her firm is mostly paperless utilizing the web application Box to create virtual file cabinets to share communications and documents with her clients. I always had access to every document related to my case. Do not be dissuaded by the fact that she is a younger attorney. She has honed her courtroom presence, never seeming flustered by grumpy judges or overzealous opposing counsel. While her hourly rates are not cheap, I still felt her services were a true value. I couldn't be more pleased with the partnership we created and the results of our efforts. I highly recommend her.

Ms. Fahnert was contracted to complete a simple process that she was asked for over a year to do that was a part of her contract with me. She refused to do the simple task. I paid anothe lawyer a nominal fee who was able to do the task in 3 weeks. Her work was pathetic and terrible otherwise as well. Stay far away.

Marie is a smart, thoughtful, effective attorney who approaches law the way you would want your advocate to represent you. Above all, she is a person of integrity, who approaches things calmly, strategically and with a solid understanding of the law. Integrity in the field of family law is a rare quality; there are so many ego-maniacal, self-serving, self-dealing attorneys out there. You never know if they are out for you or out for themselves. People get so caught up in divorce; they think they have to file this motion and that motion. Most of it is nonsense and just serves to jack up the fees of the attorney, who will gladly tell you why you should be at "war" with your ex. They then start a war for you that nobody can win and everybody, but the attorneys, lose. Marie won't do that. She will counsel you, help you, empower you to make good decisions for yourself. It is the most important thing you could ask for. And, if your ex starts a war against you, I can not think of anyone more effective than Marie at stomping out that fire and getting you safely and reasonably out the other side. Marie is the attorney for people who have a life and want to get on with it, rather than spending every last bit of energy fighting it out in the courts. I could not recommend Marie more highly.

Brad & Maxine were very professional and extremely responsive. I never had to follow up because they were always one step ahead. While I had hoped my case would’ve been shorter, I feel like their approach caused me less financial burden in the long run. I have had 3 previous attorneys who fell short and this firm was by FAR the best I have ever dealt with. They explained everything in layman’s terms and were sensitive to not incur additional legal fees. I highly recommend them. Family court cases are never easy but I’m so happy I chose WKO to represent me. You will not be disappointed!

I would avoid this firm at all cost! I hired Anderson and Boback in November 2019 after being served with a divorce petition which did NOT involve children My initial consultation was with Janice Boback who related that she was experienced in defending prenuptial agreements and thought that she would be able to have a degree of success with the one that I had sent to her. My financial future depended on the success of defending the agreement I had on file. She touted her experience in this area which was what convinced me to hire her. In January 2020, (after paying Boback approx. $8000.00) I received an email explaining how another (much less experienced) attorney was going to be assisting Boback on my case. That was the last correspondence I had with Janice Boback and I was essentially dumped to a junior lawyer who admittedly never defended a prenuptial agreement in a court of law. By the time I realized that Boback had sneakily removed herself completely from my case, I was already $12,000 into this firm. I had expressed by disgust in an email to the firm, but was informed that the only resolution would be to discuss this matter on a conference with 4 attorneys, not with Boback herself. In August 2020, after nothing proactive was done on my case, I made the decision to reach an agreement with the opposing party because I did not trust my lawyer’s ability to litigate my prenuptial agreement. We had a Zoom conference with the opposing attorney (whose practice primarily focused on wills and probate) where we were absolutely schooled by him. My attorney was unprepared and had zero arguments to counter the financial figures presented by opposing counsel. Ultimately, I created and presented an offer which was accepted by opposing counsel. This was done with absolutely no legal strategy or recommendation by my attorney. In short, this inferior legal representation cost me $23, 000.00 in legal fees from this firm. I would definitely NOT recommend this firm under any circumstances as your hard earned dollars would be spent much more wisely on quality legal representation. I also believe that hiring these big divorce firms is a scam and a money grab. Strongly consider hiring a good solo practitioner where there are not so many hands in the corporate cookie jar.

I retained Marc as my divorce attorney in mid July 2015 after already going through 2 other divorce attorneys! I was getting nowhere with the prior attorneys and my divorce was dragging on and on for almost a year and a half (it was a relatively simple divorce). We were getting close to my trial date and I felt my attorney at that time would not have my divorce resolved prior to the trial date and I would end up in court which I did not want to do! After giving it much thought, I decided to start looking for yet another attorney…ugh! I met with Marc one afternoon and he really set my mind at ease. He reviewed my case and assured me he could help resolve my divorce quickly without a doubt. He was always very professional and treated me like a real person and not just another case he was working on. He was always willing to answer any questions I had and explained things to me clearly and never confused me with all the legal stuff. Marc is wonderful about returning emails and phone calls. I don’t think I ever had to wait more than a few hours to hear back from him. He was always available when I needed him and always offered great advice! Marc and his team worked quickly on my case and got my divorce settled without having to go to trial and I couldn’t be happier. I came to Marc for a second opinion on a matter my current lawyer and I were working on and from that moment I knew he would be my lawyer moving forward. I explained the situation to him and he told me point blank that I should not of filed the petition that I did at this time and that had this issue had been addressed in my original decree that I would not be in this situation. Since the petition had been filed we had to move forward. Marc laid out the facts, options and especially the cost benefit analysis. Which was monumental for me as a single mom. Marc always had my best interest in mind. He fought for me, was patient and kept me focused when things got nasty. He was always prompt, efficient and at no point was any "I" not dotted or "T" not crossed. He has a great attention to detail and truly takes pride in all he does. In the end Marc was able to get me more than I was looking for and was able to solidify things that had not been in my original decree. If you are looking for a lawyer who is truly invested in his clients well being, who is truly working for you, an investigative lawyer who will work through the night to make sure your case is solid, a man who is beyond professional in all he does and is not only respectful of your situation but is empathetic and sympathetic as well, then Marc is the right lawyer for you!!!

Brad was able to help me gain temporary custody of my son during a turbulent time in my life. His team is fast and available for any questions I had. Divorce is a challenging thing, period. When you make the decision to move forward, tell a few people, everyone has opinions which contradict the other. Searching the internet leads to a significant amount of opinions, war stories with horrible outcomes, etc…. I was referred to Marc and Brad from a close friend going through a very challenging divorce. I actually spoke with Marc a number of times covering a period of nearly three years. Not once was Marc pushy, he always listened, and his goal was my and my children’s happiness WITH the kids being his first priority. These guys know what they’re doing and are also very good at managing your expectations. The outcome they’re striving for is: speed, accuracy, keeping tensions calm, and walking away with everyone feeling as good as they can. While I hope to never go through the process again, if I do, Marc will be my guy.

This review is for Sean Chaudhuri He has been a great attorney. Divorce is hard enough on a family and the most important thing to me is feeling like I have someone fighting for me and my children. Brian Hurst and his staff represented me during a complex, grueling and bitter three-year divorce battle. I have been in business for almost 40 years and have used many lawyers over those years. Mr. Daudell is a real "pit-bull." I have seen him argue against 3 lawyers vs. him and he did GREAT! Even the judge commended him on his knowledge of the law. He is a FIGHTER and very fair on his fees. I highly recommend him for all legal issues. He has no ego and if needed will reach out to others should the need occur.
