Read your Agreement with Michele carefully. Her office sent me a bill for more than $1,000 over my retainer . They should have informed me I had used up the retainer. In addition, they tried to charge me interest for a bill they said I had not paid, but I had never received. She wrote 1 letter to my ex- and resolved nothing. The above review was written one year ago. In response to Michelle's answer written two weeks ago - how is it that the client made the matter too complicated for you, the attorney? This does not say much for your competence. I retained you to resolve the issue of support payments my ex- had voluntarily reduced. In addition, he owed me past-due child support of over $30K and money for repairs to the house. The binder I gave you had in chronological order correspondence to my ex- with documentation attached for the repair estimates and payments that I knew you would need as they were required via the Separation Agreement. The binder also had a summary of past-due child support in excel spreadsheet format. If there was something you did not understand, you should have contacted me. I met with you in Jan 2017. You sat on my binder for 2 months and billed me for $1,140 as of 3/30/17 which was for "Preparation of Letter." I never received this bill but did receive a statement dated 5/16/17 for $1,148.21 which was the bill plus interest. Yes, you eventually sent a letter to my ex- which prompted him to restore his support payments to the full amount. However, the letter did NOT address the issue of past-due payments in arrears of over $30,000 or the monies he owed me for repairs to the house ($7,500+) which remains unsettled today. I "agreed" to settle your bill for $640 (above my retainer); however, this does not in any way imply that I was satisfied with the results.

I hired Jacob Tuckfelt to deal with Mechanic's Liens against my property, which should have been against my Builder, however, after hiring Mr. Tuckfelt, he went into action and vigorously defended me. He was prompt in his responses to me and kept me in the loop the entire time. He is an Excellent Attorney and his staff is very pleasant. Mr. Tuckfelt made this process easier for me to deal with as he took care of everything for me. Hire him you will not be sorry!!!!

Divorce is never easy, but what do you do when your attorney is incompetent and spends more time yelling at you than at your ex's attorney? The answer is simple: fire them and hire Jacob Tuckfelt! From the first moment I met Mr. Tuckfelt, I noticed that he gave me 100% of his attention and really tried to understand all of the problems my former husband, and attorney, caused me. Over the course of the next two and a half years, Mr. Tuckfelt has fought diligently, both in and out of court, for me. He has told me hard truths with honesty and compassion, and calmed my fears during the toughest parts of my divorce trial. He always returns calls or emails personally, as soon as he is able. He always comports himself with professionalism and his respect and knowledge of the law is apparent. I have, on many, occasions recommended Mr. Tuckfelt to those who need his expertise and I don't hesitate to do so now.

I wish I could give more than 5 stars!!!! The average person doesn't get married to get divorced but unfortunately, you never really know someone until you divorce them. But, if you have someone like Mr. Tuckfelt and his entire staff in your corner, you can rest assured that you are in the right hands. Mr. Tuckfelt's knowledge of the law, ethics and professionalism is above reproach. From the first moment I met him and told him what was important to me, he made sure that became our shared goal. He advocated for me at every turn and made a terrible situation bearable. He was never too busy for me; he responds to phone calls and emails in a very timely manner and if he could not get back to me, someone from his very knowledgable and professional staff would get back to me with his thoughts and opinions. Some attorneys thrive on making a contentious situation worse; if your goal is to "screw" your ex, Mr. Tuckfelt is not that kind of attorney. He is a honest, "no-pushover", bulldog who will tell you the brutal honest truths and fight like **** for you. Every time we had to go to court, he was well prepared with reasonable and fair arguments that were well supported with prior case law. I hired Yaniv & Associates for my uncontested divorce. I dealt with a lady by the name of Brittney (ask for her). At first I was skeptical because I've never been through the divorce process before. Prior to calling Y&A I had spoken with a few lawyers, and I really didn't feel comfortable with any of them. However, one lawyer that I spoke to actually recommended Y&A to me. So when I called Yaniv & Associates... I asked a thousand questions before deciding to commit because although my divorce was uncontested, it still had some complications because my ex and I were not really on speaking terms, and he had been giving me the run-around for YEARS with getting the divorce done. When I called Y&A, I asked if they could deal with my ex so I didn't have to... They did just that. From the moment I sent the payment... Brittany was on the job (IMMEDIATELY). She called my ex (the same day I made the payment) and she dealt with him direct. They have 2 offices, so they set it up to where my ex could go to the closer location and sign papers. The process was fast (really fast) and smooth (no hiccups). In less than a week (literally), the papers where all signed and submitted to the courts. Best decision ever! Even with Covid happening... Brittany continued to be accessible to me and answered any questions I had. The process took less than 3 months, and would've been sooner had we not been in a pandemic. I HIGHLY recommend Yani & Associates (and Brittney). If you hire them, you won't regret it!

I will recommend Kristen Ferris to any of my brothers and sisters in the Armed Forces dealing with New York Family Law related matters. As soon as I retained her for representation, she quickly took control of a highly volatile, contested support modification action and ensured that I was treated fairly by the court. Because of her, my ex and I were able to come to an acceptable, mutual agreement due to the fact that Kristen understands New York Family Law and the parameters of appropriate support. She was able to help me while I am serving in a foreign country on the other side of the world. Her paralegal team is also excellent and responsive. Worse firm ive ever dealt with. Hire for a simple uncontested divorce. Neither the other party or myself wanted anything other then to sign the papers and be done with our marriage. Paid my retainer in full and was told this is all its going to be as the other party said they were paying for the divorce in writing. Hired this firm to make sure I am not getting screwed and that the paperwork was good to go. Got multiple emails saying I have an outstanding balance for writing the divorce papers which is not what they were hired for. No phone calls ever returned. No answers on the bill until I sent over 10 emails about the bill and the last one was to contact the BAR Association which they finally responded telling me they will correct the bill and resume the divorce process. Ive been dealing with lawyers for unrelated family court matters and this firm makes a terrible old lawyer I had look decent even after he was dis barred.

I retained Mr. Vetrano's law firm in 2017 to assist me in a post-divorce judgement of property distribution which my ex-wife refuses to part with. I was assigned Kristen Farris as my attorney. Mid-way through my case, my ex-wife decided to sue me for unpaid medical bills she claimed I failed to pay. So, I retain Kristen for this case, as well. Two cases. Two retainers. She told me she had a case similar to mine and she got it dismissed. I took that as a good sign, but was skeptical nonetheless. My ex-wife wanted $15k from me. At trial (this is my fourth trial with her), I made a last-minute offer to settle the case. Far lower than her asking, but reasonable. She refused. She wanted to testify and she wanted me in jail. On the stand, her testimony was flawed, unbelievable, and she was argumentative. Kristen objected to every piece of evidence and got most of it dismissed. She is a really effective trial attorney. We took numerous breaks throughout the day. Each break, my offer went down as her chances of winning went down (Deal or No Deal?). I finally offered her a grand to go away. No deal. She wanted me in jail. By end of day, the judge had enough. Between the bad evidence and an argumentative witness, she dismissed the case entirely. This was a huge win as this case was primarily brought to force my hand on the property case. It completely took the wind out of her sails and I only have Kristen to thank for it. Now we're back to the original case. I have a renewed confidence that Kristen will secure a win for me again. So, if you want a lawyer who's going to take your case, your money, never get back to you or keep you informed, only to have you lose, then hire another firm. If you want to hire a winner, then call this office and ask for Kristen. You won't be sorry. Oh, she has a hard-working team of assistants who'll give you the same dedication too. Shout out to Stacy and Erika!

I rarely write reviews. But because I am a parent and understand the importance of this step, I genuinely advise you to not hire Ms. Rayner… no need to continue readying.. don’t take any chance . - The communication with Ms. Rayner was horrible. I proved to her in two phones that she didn’t read most of my emails. This will severely hurt your case. Fortunately, I documented these calls and emails and will try to get my money back specially with charges labeled as “Review email” - I didn’t feel at all that the court and specially the opponent lawyer respect her. The opponent lawyer didn’t reply to most of her emails and ignored many times. You need a diplomatic respected well known lawyer to hire - There were two incidents that Ms. Rayner had to open and read in a law book to answer a basic question while we’re at the call. I have doubt that her degree is even legit . I’m going to contact the the association of NY bar with this matter and other issues. - Ms Rayner ends up being a puppet for the opponent lawyer. Last conference court call was so bad and pathetic. - during zoom meeting with Ms. Rayner, she told me that the judge ruling was extremely unfair. she stated that she knows him , he doesn’t change his mind and he made the decisions before even the conference hearing meeting. After I met the judge, I am very confident that only her poor performance is the only thing to blame. The judge seems very logical but missing crucial details. For the love of your kids … stay out

Dave jumped into action when I had a false criminal case slapped on me by my ex wife. He was judicious, painstaking with the details, informative and always assured me that things would only get better, not worse. And they did. Just after college I met and married Rose. I hoped we would have a happily ever after and I truly tried my best to make that happen. I worked hard and made good money. We had four children, but my wife made me do everything. She never worked during the marriage, and that was fine with me because we didn’t need the money. However, I always hoped she would take more interest in the kids and our home, but it never happened. Year after year, I was the one who got up to make breakfast and the school lunches for the kids before I went to work. Over time, Rose and I grew apart and I realized that I was carrying everything on my back. I never felt like I had a partner. We tried counselling but nothing changed. Finally, after nearly 20 years, I decided to get a divorce. I asked friends about divorce lawyers and the Law Office of Ellen Holtzman came highly recommended. After the initial consult I asked Ellen to send the divorce papers to Rose. I was always generous to Rose and the kids, but she was never satisfied. It was never enough, even when I willingly gave her above and beyond what the court ordered. Since the divorce became final seven years ago, she has taken me to court for extra support more than 20 times over issues that lack any validity. She seems to do it just to waste everybody’s time because the judges never find in her favor. I used to wonder why Ellen kept such a detailed paper trail about everything, all the correspondence back and forth. Honestly, I didn’t think a lot of it was necessary. But later, dragged into court year after year by my ex, I saw the point. When the judge had a question, Ellen always had the answer, and she always had the documents to prove everything. Proof that all the checks and the letters had been received, proof that the checks were deposited, and receipts showing that the money being sought for needed items had already been paid. Now happily remarried to a woman who is a true partner, I want to say that you can rely on Ellen and her team. They have been there for me every time I needed them. With Ellen, I had the best and she changed my life. Also want to say, Meryl was very kind and helpful to me. The office functioned as a really good team and I feel so lucky to have had them all on my side.

Ellen dragged out my divorce unnecessarily and charged a fortune. Several times we prepared for court dates, and she rescheduled, creating more paperwork for which I was charged. She couldn't come to the most important possible conference with Judge Ratner in Westchester, sending in a substitute that was completely unfamiliar with my case and Ratner just yelled at me the whole time. Wasted hours of my time and let the other lawyer yell at me. Made a terrible divorce traumatic.

He's the kind of professional who brings a wide range of "tools" to the task his client requires. Alan Wolk advised my ex husband to have my 16year old daughter, and my 19year old daughter at the New City Courthouse on the date of my divorce hearing. This happened 21 years ago but the pain of having them there , capriciously, is unforgettable and unforgivably painful. They were not in the courtroom, and there were no custody issues to discuss. When I begged my now ex husband not to bring the kids he refused to listen. He said Mr Wolk had advised him to bring them there that morning. Be careful with this attorney! SNEAKY!!! Watch out for the retainer fee & the first time consultation fee. The problem here is that most attorneys do a free first time consult to ensure fit. It is a high-level session & fees are discussed. Mr. Katz charges $250 for this, while most attorneys are free. You don't even know prior to this what the retainer fee will be. Next MAJOR issue is his retainer language. I was told on the phone that Mr. Katz does what is called an "Minimum Advance Retainer". What this means is that Mr. Katz may give you a $4500 retainer. This retainer is a minimum amount meaning that say Mr. Katz charges $350 an hour for his hourly rate & you only use two hours of his time ($750), you still have to pay him the entire $4500! Basically, he gets an additional unearned $3750 of your hard earned money, because of what again??? Think of it like you're building an addition on your house. The contractor asks for $50,000 up front for supplies & the supplies only end up costing $25,000. He keeps the rest. Sound right to you? Sounds like some shyster stuff to me!
