I contacted Chris to understand the process of a non-contested divorce. He met with me twice at no charge to gather information and help me understand the process, which he did expertly. He explained technical legal jargon clearly and answered all of my questions patiently. I felt confident and comfortable moving forward with the divorce through Evolution because of how well I was treated and how much I felt valued. I also interacted with several other members of Chris' team throughout this process and everyone was friendly, communicative, punctual with responses and paperwork, and extremely helpful overall. They really helped alleviate a lot of the stress and anxiety that can come with going through something like this. Now, for his Pre-Agreed Pricing: All my life, I've heard horror stories of exorbitant legal fees creating financial crises in people's lives. Knowing I wouldn't be nickel-and-dimed was appealing because I could budget and predict my finances around this process instead of being hit with unexpected expenses and fees. Don't second guess working with Roop Law. I worked with, and highly recommend, Komal Khan. Some notes about Alex Xanttopoulos which set him apart from prior experience... He makes you feel like his only client. His feathers are never ruffled. He steps over drama and gets the job done. He redirected me on many occasions without being condescending. He showed respect for all parties and it was clear that they respected him (don't mistake that for being a push over - he wins on every point). He is a master of detail and numbers, is measured, strategic and has spot-on instincts. He was a trusted steward of the money in my retainer. He managed most of a complicated case under the initial retainer amount while still doing an incredibly thorough job. Best life-business decision I ever made.

I retained Christopher Malinowski to represent me in a contested divorce upon a recommendation from a friend who also used Mr. Malinowski in a divorce situation similar to mine. By that point, I had worked with two other lawyers but was not satisfied with the progress on my case. Meanwhile, my spouse retained a very expensive and aggressive lawyer who advocated vigorously on his behalf from the beginning. I could tell the difference between my other two lawyers and Mr. Malinowski after my first meeting with Mr. Malinowski. Unlike with my other two lawyers, I did not have to convince Mr. Malinowski to advocate on my behalf. After hearing the details of my case during our first meeting, I could tell that Mr. Malinowski was sympathetic to my circumstances, was ready to advocate on my behalf, and knew what he was doing. I knew I was in good hands and felt that I finally had a lawyer who could think strategy and was not intimidated by the opposing council. Nicole Burns came recommended to me by the attorney I had (and trusted). When my attorney decided to leave law to raise a family, she told me that Nicole was a lot like her -- she takes the high road and doesn't get into dirty fighting with other attorneys. Exactly right. Nicole is a class act and works hard for you. She's a tough negotiator. And she really listened and fought for me and my child. This was a custodial agreement that needed to be modified and she worked hard to do what was best for my child. Best of all, she brought perspective and kept me on track. Her paralegal was also super helpful -- she did more to help me with the interrogatories and discovery than I had experienced with other law offices. I highly recommend Nicole and her team.

Homophobes!! I wish I had another set of hands so I could give them four thumbs down. They Took thousands of dollars for me. They did nothing but procrastinate. Contracts shouldn’t have taken more than a week. It took them nearly 10 months to do very little but edit my spouses lawyers work And fired me without so much as a phone call and then alerted my wife’s counsel immediately and left me in a very vulnerable position. They worked against me in the end! Ignored all communication from me. I wound up having to sign the original contract my wife’s counsel had drawn up over 10 months ago. I am infuriated to think how much money I spent and they essentially did nothing for me except take my money They did not care to hear my side of the story - that my wife had an affair with a man in her group therapy. They did nothing for me but tell me to wait and in the meantime they did very little work but we’re happy to take my money. If you are looking for a law firm that does very little work and treats you like a number, look no further - you have found the lawyer for you! That last response shows how gutless they are. They were against me from the beginning due to my sexual orientation. They are a bunch of homophobes. Do not trust these people. They just want your money.

It's not easy to choose an attorney and some things you don't find out until you've already paid the retainer. I'm leaving this review in the hopes it will help you make a decision. I found Nicole through the luck of the draw years ago. Nicole Burns has represented my husband and I for over three years on a high conflict post-divorce custody issue and it was a great decision. We'd had an attorney from a big name firm in the area to start with ten years ago. We thought big names meant better services because we had never hired an attorney before. While his hourly rate was lower since he was new, he ultimately cost us more by giving us incorrect tax advice and making an agreement that the IRS would not honor as well as telling us to give the other party whatever they wanted because she was "crazy" and would bankrupt us. Fast forward 10 months to the next conflict and finding Nicole Burns. First off, Nicole is a quality person. She takes the high road but won't be pushed around. She doesn't shy from conflict but tries to work things out first. She has integrity and you can't buy that. It comes from inside. She will tell you what your most likely outcome in court is but you should know that it ultimately is up to the judge and you don't always get what you want. In family law, nobody gets what they want all the time. Be prepared for that. Nicole has deftly handled everything that came up over the years. That includes working with another party that doesn't keep attorneys and rotates between representing herself and hiring new attorneys for a few months before firing them. Nicole was essential when Virginia DYFS was involved and working with them. She has helped us through getting protective orders to protect the abused child and working with the district attorney's office regarding the same. She is compassionate and cares about what she does. And she knows her stuff. Our post-divorce case involved abuse, DYFS, criminal charges, emergency motions, support modifications and garnishments, medical issues, a special needs child who could not speak for himself and working across state lines. When our funding for litigation ran low, she kept costs down and advised us on the best course. When it needed to be done, she told us so we could plan accordingly. The last thing you need to know which you probably don't know is that you want an attorney who is known in the court system. Your attorney's reputation means alot if you have to go to court. Nicole has worked in the courts and has a great reputation among those in the profession. On top of that, she's a parent and knows the work of doing the best for your child. Hire her now. I know I will when I need her again in two years.

Jamel Rowe was my attorney for a support agreement and divorce. Her counsel and legal opinions were outstanding. She was responsive, professional. And most importantly genuine. I cannot praise Livesay and Myers, P.C. enough. I engaged the firm to handle my separation and divorce. (This was after parting ways with another law firm because I did not feel satisfied with their service.) Jamel Rowe, Esq. and Brenda Moreno, Paralegel, both of whom I worked with for several months, are the consummate professionals. Drafts of documents and filings were flawless. Communication was always not only timely, but also very pleasant, even in tense situations with tight timeframes. I could tell that Ms. Rowe put a major effort into reviewing a mountain of case data because she had immediate recall of specific facts and their relevance. Most impressive was Ms. Rowe's handling of the case during the trial: she had command of the facts and used them effectively; she presented a clear case, emphasizing precisely what I had suggested; and the judge openly praised her "accurate and appropriate" use of the property distribution forms. My recommendation: definitely talk to them about your needs.

We have a very positive and rewarding experience with Alicia Finley, one of the attorneys at Barnes & Diehl. Our case was very complex and complicated because as grandparents we were seeking visiting privileges and eventually custody of our granddaughter. We had moved here from Greensboro, NC because the father had retained custody of the child after being absent from the child's life almost from birth. We were underrepresented by our attorney in Greensboro. We met first with the owner of the firm and he recommended Ms. Finley. She stepped in and took the time to understand and appreciate our granddaughter's situation. She took the time to get to know us and the role we had played in her life. The legal process took from 2018 to 2021 when we secured full physical and legal custody of our granddaughter. Ms. Finley leveraged her expertise and supported our mission. Most importantly, she is skilled in the legal processes and her court presence and knowledge played a significant role in this positive outcome. Her help in navigating the legal situation proved to be a key factor in getting what was the best for our grandchild.
