Laurel brigade law group was fantastic all the way through my case I was involved in. 5 stars is not enough for Mr. Soldan. Having never been in the specific type of legal trouble that he specializes in, I was completely lost and worried. Luckily the personal reviews from his previous clients gave me confidence. Mr. Soldan responded with urgency and accuracy upon my initial request for consultation. I started working with the Hopkins Law Firm back in November 2019 when I needed a lawyer because I was, suddenly, dropped by the highly recommended one firm this area. Since then and now, when I am a free man, with all my family affairs resolved by this excellent law firm and loving again (I never thought and hoped that I will be happy again). I am a young, IT professional, residing in the Northern Virginia area who has been familiar with divorce, separation and family law for about 4 years now. This is due to a really bad divorce and child custody battle between my ex wife and I. I had two attorneys that I retained the first time around and although i got what i feel was decent representation, it did not come close to what Lindsay has done for me. It was like she took this case personally. Unlike previous lawyers, Lindsay did not wait until last minute to prepare for this case. From day one she took the time ti not only get familiar with the case, but she took time to get to know me as an individual. This was especially important because i was the main witness in my defense. She took advantage of my strengths and took into consideration my weaknesses. This was critical in preparing me to take the stand. One thing that really stood out to me and comforted me in this matter was receiving emails from her late in the evening. This let me know that my case was of the upmost priority for her as that is usually time I personally reserve for personal matters and I would NEVER let work interrupt that, not Lindsay. I could really spend days going over why I am SO satisfied with her services, but I will save everyone the time. I got exactly what I had been asking for, from this case. Lindsay was very likable to the judge and had great confidence and delivery. Honestly, I would have written this review EVEN if things did NOT go my way in trial. She deserves it! Nicole Burns came recommended to me by the attorney I had (and trusted). When my attorney decided to leave law to raise a family, she told me that Nicole was a lot like her -- she takes the high road and doesn't get into dirty fighting with other attorneys. Exactly right. Nicole is a class act and works hard for you. She's a tough negotiator. And she really listened and fought for me and my child. This was a custodial agreement that needed to be modified and she worked hard to do what was best for my child. Best of all, she brought perspective and kept me on track. Her paralegal was also super helpful -- she did more to help me with the interrogatories and discovery than I had experienced with other law offices. I highly recommend Nicole and her team.

Homophobes!! I wish I had another set of hands so I could give them four thumbs down. They Took thousands of dollars for me. They did nothing but procrastinate. Contracts shouldn’t have taken more than a week. It took them nearly 10 months to do very little but edit my spouses lawyers work And fired me without so much as a phone call and then alerted my wife’s counsel immediately and left me in a very vulnerable position. They worked against me in the end! Ignored all communication from me. I wound up having to sign the original contract my wife’s counsel had drawn up over 10 months ago. I am infuriated to think how much money I spent and they essentially did nothing for me except take my money They did not care to hear my side of the story - that my wife had an affair with a man in her group therapy. They did nothing for me but tell me to wait and in the meantime they did very little work but we’re happy to take my money. If you are looking for a law firm that does very little work and treats you like a number, look no further - you have found the lawyer for you! That last response shows how gutless they are. They were against me from the beginning due to my sexual orientation. They are a bunch of homophobes. Do not trust these people. They just want your money.

It's not easy to choose an attorney and some things you don't find out until you've already paid the retainer. I'm leaving this review in the hopes it will help you make a decision. I found Nicole through the luck of the draw years ago. Nicole Burns has represented my husband and I for over three years on a high conflict post-divorce custody issue and it was a great decision. We'd had an attorney from a big name firm in the area to start with ten years ago. We thought big names meant better services because we had never hired an attorney before. While his hourly rate was lower since he was new, he ultimately cost us more by giving us incorrect tax advice and making an agreement that the IRS would not honor as well as telling us to give the other party whatever they wanted because she was "crazy" and would bankrupt us. Fast forward 10 months to the next conflict and finding Nicole Burns. First off, Nicole is a quality person. She takes the high road but won't be pushed around. She doesn't shy from conflict but tries to work things out first. She has integrity and you can't buy that. It comes from inside. She will tell you what your most likely outcome in court is but you should know that it ultimately is up to the judge and you don't always get what you want. In family law, nobody gets what they want all the time. Be prepared for that. Nicole has deftly handled everything that came up over the years. That includes working with another party that doesn't keep attorneys and rotates between representing herself and hiring new attorneys for a few months before firing them. Nicole was essential when Virginia DYFS was involved and working with them. She has helped us through getting protective orders to protect the abused child and working with the district attorney's office regarding the same. She is compassionate and cares about what she does. And she knows her stuff. Our post-divorce case involved abuse, DYFS, criminal charges, emergency motions, support modifications and garnishments, medical issues, a special needs child who could not speak for himself and working across state lines. When our funding for litigation ran low, she kept costs down and advised us on the best course. When it needed to be done, she told us so we could plan accordingly. The last thing you need to know which you probably don't know is that you want an attorney who is known in the court system. Your attorney's reputation means alot if you have to go to court. Nicole has worked in the courts and has a great reputation among those in the profession. On top of that, she's a parent and knows the work of doing the best for your child. Hire her now. I know I will when I need her again in two years.

Ugh. Do not hire Donna Dougherty to handle your case. When you meet her, you'll find that she is, in my opinion, brash and abrasive and unquestionably condescending. Your first thought is "Perfect, that's how she's going to work tirelessly on my behalf." You'll be wrong. That's how she'll continue to treat you and good luck getting to effectively advocate on your behalf. In my specific experience, she will rather yell at you (as her client) than work with opposing counsel on an amicable resolution (as I've learned since severing ties with this firm). My initial consult was full of "we're going to do this" and "we'll file this" and all great salesmanship. I was excited...finally an attorney that really wants to do more than push papers and genuinely wants to help create an optimal outcome for my child. Boo. Within 2 days of writing that first big monster retainer check to Donna, before any additional documentation was provided, the tone rapidly degraded to (paraphrased) "well, I'm not sure" and "hopefully we'll prevail" type speak. Sadly, I fell for it all and have lost almost every financial resource in the process. Now Donna is going after what little is left. That's really all you need to know about the character of the character. To say I've had nothing but problems feels like a gross understatement. Donna ran up my legal tab at a rate that has offended attorneys I've consulted with since; and it takes a lot to offend another attorney. Ultimately, Donna lost my case. Anything can happen in a courtroom, but this was a worst case scenario in the face of what should have been, fairly objectively, a ruling 180 degrees in the opposite direction. Despite being the attorney I retained, Donna did not appear at the hearing to argue for attorney fees (sadly, the mostly expensive part of the entire matter) and sent an associate instead. That mistake was another $12000+ on top of the mostly unsubstantiated $20k+ billed for a very simple case (that she lost). Now Donna is suing me although I've yet to be provided any granular itemization of the billable work "provided." Always beware of lawyers that gleefully sue their clients; it's a litmus test as to where their priorities lie in terms of monetary greed vs client advocacy. And, to pour more salt in the wound, Donna is now demanding 24% interest and thousands more in legal fees for suing her own client (me in this case). Her reputation in the local family law community exists for very good reasons. I wish I had figured that out beforehand (back before the reorganization of the firm). FINAL WARNING: If you're dealing with a sensitive family law matter involving your young children and their private meetings with therapists, you may want to consider a law office that does not send confidential psychiatric documentation to the WRONG CLIENT! That's right. Donna's law office sent me an another client's very private and sensitive data regarding the child's meetings with a therapist. I've yet to ever be answered as to whether sensitive data from my case was sent to someone else. If you retain her, perhaps you can update me on my case if/when you receive the wrong confidential records too. Don't make the mistake of making what is likely the most stressful and emotionally wrenching process of your life that much worse by hiring an attorney that values your checking account significantly more than operating in the best interests of you and your child/children.

Amy Tobias has been this Dad's attorney through a pretty complicated divorce, with issues that have flared up repeatedly over 9+ years. I have truly been blessed to find a law firm who is warm, supportive and caring for their clients, but killer Great White Sharks in the courtroom for divorce/custody. Don’t believe anything was done for me. If court appoints a mediator go with them, could have done better myself with them and paid less in child support and not paid a lawyer! Also wouldn’t have to wait 9 months until the trial date, and just to be disappointed after trail that nothing changed after the temp motion case. Also not be down over $1000 a month in child support. Lawyer says it’s okay you make a lot of money. Lesson learned hopefully you also don’t make mistake and go with a mediator if the court appoints it. I believe this is the worse that could have happened to me and it did. Even though I had a good case, kids were raised with me, and other parent had mental problems and lives less than 2 miles away. Couldn’t get 50/50 custody, could have gotten closer to 50/50 with mediator and not be down thousands. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Easiest divorce ever. But in all honesty this place was great. Might be a little bit more expensive than another firm (i wouldn't really know, i didn't shop around much) but the made everything extremely simple, and spoke to me in a respectful manner. Nothing was difficult to understand and all in really had to do was sign a few papers when the time came. My mother recommended them because they helped her about 20 years ago or so and they helped me as well. Really appreciate everyone here.

I highly recommend the Daugherty Law Firm and more specifically Kate Daughtery. When I first began my divorce I had no idea what to expect and immediately after our first consultation I felt relieved to be able to hire Kate as my counsel. She was very knowledgeable of what to expect, what to do and how certain decisions will impact myself. Throughout the entire divorce which lasted almost twelve months, due to the separation timeline, Kate was extremely helpful and diligent from start to finish. I always felt that I was confident with her and that I wasn’t being misled or misinformed. Amanda Kimble and Michelle Evan’s were great! I had to place my divorce case on hold and without hesitation and great appreciation Amanda picked up the case. She did an excellent job of choosing the best method to proceed and got the final decree quickly. I had roots with this firm and went back because of their professionalize and personal approach to challenging life changes and I was never disappointed. The divorce process was perfected and I can’t thank them enough. Not one call or email went unanswered - they explained everything! Excellent lawyer and excellent legal assistant with great customer service!

I was very hesitant of using a law firm and thought I would be able to do it myself ie name change for a minor but I’m glad I didn’t because Ms. Melannie Dino and Ms. Evans provided me with great professional service. Melannie Dino represented me during my divorce and helped me navigate the process. I am the spouse of a former military member. Melannie was very knowledgable about the forms and steps that were needed in order for me to receive my military benefits. Melannie and her paralegal Michelle Evans kept me informed and responded quickly to every question and concern I had. Ms. Huchler (my lawyer), Ms. Wallace, Ms. Membreno and Ms. Arp were amazing to work with with throughout the entire process of my divorce! They were very responsive always returning my emails in a timely manner, answered all questions about any legal matter I had so well that a regular guy, like myself, could understand! And you always felt like they cared about helping you and defending you, I know they had several clients they were working with, but I always felt like I had their full attention. I hope that I never have to get divorced again but I would call these fine folks back up in a heartbeat if I ever make that mistake again! They say divorce is expensive cause its worth it, they have good rate and its so worth it, so you shouldn't pass up working with Jenny, Cara, Rossimer, and Taryn!

Through a long almost 2 year process due to Covid and non-responsive ex husband. Melannie and the group were always pushing forward and making sure I knew the process and moving my divorce forward. Melannie was extremely professional and made sure I was aware of everything they were doing promptly. It was a pleasure working with her through a very tough time. I appreciate all her help in getting my divorce closed before having to go to court.
