I went to Brett Callahan with my daughter for advice on wills and other planning issues. She had actually researched professional services and we decided to go to Nay & Friedenberg and Brett Callahan. Our experience was excellent. Brett explained the tradeoffs involving wills and trusts and we both elected to have him draw up trusts. He and his first class staff made the process painless even to the point of preparing letters to our several financial institutions which made the actual implementation quite easy. Our interviews were very efficient and addressed issues that I frankly had not even thought of. Having Brett Callahan on our family team has been positive for our family. We intend of course to go to him in the future if the needs arises. I feel like the practices of Myatt & Bell are what give lawyers a bad name, and I regret hiring them. Four weeks after signing a contract with them, they hadn't done anything but send me an $800 bill for answering my very first email to them and having an initial call to see if we were a fit to work together. It took months for them to do what they said they would do. When I asked for a timeline for them to finish, they told me that if I paid them more money, they'd work faster. In the end, the work that they did do was good, although I ended up hiring someone else to complete half of the contract. There are tons of legal options in Portland, and I'd recommend finding someone other than Myatt & Bell.

It would have been nice to speak to Mr Evans, but I missed a 8pm phone call. I returned the call next day and a receptionist answers. She sighed and asked what I wanted. I explained why I was calling and I asked if the phone call was for a consult. I needed to set a time due to having a baby and needing time to my self for the call. The lady was extremely rude and unprofessional and said this was not something the could help with and that I needed to just give her information so they can call when they feel like it. It was very upsetting and 8pm is not a good time for me to handle an important phone call. When I said I was uncomfortable with her demeanor she got upset and said that was absurd. She hung up on my call and I called another attorney recommended. I was relieved when I saw all the great reviews Mr Evans has, but his staff clearly are not professionals. The person I spoke with also asked how much money I had and said that would determine if she helps me or not. Extremely unprofessional and sounded like a scam.

My dad died March 2017, I am trying to get Power of Attorney as I am the only child he ever had, and I was referred to this law firm in Vale, Oregon.Butler and Looney. I live in Sparks, Nevada. I made two phone calls to this firm, paid them $25 for the first one. When I called again I asked the receptionist that answered will this cost money. She put me on hold and came back on the line and said not for asking a question, which I did as I spoke with Mr. Butler. . A few days later, I receive a bill for $200!! I am shocked since she said no it won't cost me a dime to ask him a few questions. Mr. Butler talked for about half an hour, and I told him I would call him back when I had the $500 to send him to start the Power of Attorney since I was my dad's only living heir and he agreed. I am not happy because I live on Social Security and had told him that I don't have much money. The estates is not worth over $23,000 but I agreed to pay him a percentage when it is settled. Today December 6, I receive a bill saying 'PLEASE SEND YOUR PAYMENT AND ANY FEEDBACK WITHIN 21 DAYS AFTER YOU RECEIVE THIS INVOICE. A LATE PAYMENT CHARGE OF 1 1/2 % PER MONTH ON THE UNPAID BALANCE WILL BE CHARGED ON ALL ACCOUNTS MORE THAN 30 DAYS PAST DUE. they add that I can give them a debit card number to draw out the money faster.. WHAT MONEY? I am helping to raise my two grandchildren and don't have two nickels to rub together! How can a law office be so crooked? If I don't pay it my little bit of credit that I do have will be gone, and I don't see that I will ever get Power of Attorney of my dad's estate. How sad people like this are in business, no matter what kind of crook he is , this is just awful. Thanks for nothing Butler and Looney,, crooks that you are!
