I have been divorced for 5 years, and we share 3 children. Things were as good as they could be under the circumstances. One day my ex decided they were going to move out of state for work and the kids would better be suited living with him full time, and began to play mind games with me and began to be very manipulative with me. I verbally agreed and off they went. It was a few weeks later I began to regret this. That same week my children began to inform the living situation was the best. My ex was uncooperative with me, the last thing I wanted to do was get a family law attorney involved, because of the costs but I knew it was the only option. I scheduled a consultation that same day and hired this law firm on the spot. I could tell they cared more about me than the money. They weren't what I thought it would be like working with an attorney. They were able to get my kids back to me and I am able to have full custody. It was a total win in my favor. Everyone there was so wonderful to work with.

I needed a quick divorce. My now ex and I didn't have any kids or any real assets. I was originally going to hire some company and pay them $500 for the divorce papers but ended up paying more for the full attorney. They got the divorce done very quickly and I was happy with what they charged me and the way I was treated.

I was represented by Josh during my divorce process, with Diane as the paralegal. From day one they were honest and professional. Diane kept in frequent contact and made sure I was always aware of deadlines, etc. with plenty of time to provide them the documents and things they needed. She was always willing to jump in and answer my questions or send me a document or whatever the case might have been. If I asked her something that required legal advice, she didn’t try to give me some guess-type answer, she would tell me flat out that I would need to talk that over with Josh and offer to arrange that meeting. Josh would provide a legal point of view and then what I would call a “real world” point of view for each situation, and then talk me through possible outcomes, what to expect, etc. for every approach or scenario. He never told me I “had to” do this or that, he never tried to influence me one way or the other. He would always give me the facts, offer his advice and then let me ask as many questions as I needed to before making a decision. His approach was never a “this is war, let’s destroy the other person” mentality. He always approached things from a reasonable, level-headed and common sense standpoint and fought for a fair and reasonable resolution for both parties. I don’t have a single complaint or negative thing to say about Josh, Diane, or any of the staff I came in contact with at Edwards & Petersen during the 11 months they represented me. If I ever need their services again, I won’t even look elsewhere before going back to them.

I would highly recommend Brian Peterson with Edwards and Peterson. I interviewed about ten lawyers and after talking to Brian I just knew he was the one to handle my very complex case. He was honest, extremely knowledgeable and very thorough. He made sure that my voice was heard, and during one of the most stressful times in my life , that made all the difference. Great Attorney. Professional and caring. We routinely had to ask for information that should have been given to us. Because we had to ask, it cost us everytime we did, and each instance was billed to us. We were given an approximate amount the divorce would cost, it wound up costing 5 times that amount. I understand there were unforeseen costs, but we had the terrible feeling we were nickel and dimed to death. I would still recommend to anyone needing a divorce attorney, because they excell at making you feel good during a time of crisis and that's worth something.

Mr. Bastain was professional, attentive, and punctual. He was very good at explaining the process and making sure I knew everything I needed, to make good decisions for myself and my family. He did not create false expectations, as so many attorneys do, but was realistic in evaluating things and creating responses. He spent the appropriate amount of time with me and was fair and appropriate in relation to fees. He did an great job for me and the outcome was excellent, I believe for everyone involved. Chose this law firm for a family law issue. Initial in-person consult was with Billie, who I thought I was hiring. Afterwards she referred me to a different Lawyer in her firm that she thought would be best. (Kylie) Billie was aware I had a hearing in a months time. I then was asked to go online and put down a retainer, which I did. Then I scheduled a strategy meeting with Kylie through text messages with her assistant? When I showed up for the meeting, they were puzzled and stated Kylie only does virtual work. I explained that I cant do that and said I would reschedule. 15 minutes later (I had barely left the parking lot) I had my entire deposit refunded. No explanation, no rescheduling, nothing. Just an email saying I was refunded. Now I am even closer to my hearing date after they did this. Initial consult was frustrating. Billie seemed pessimistic about helping a Father who had an ex-wife consistently out to get him. After that it was even weirder. They ask you to pay for a program to share files and communication. They send you a link to a questionnaire. When you go to the link, you have to sign up for the software to do it. Then you get welcoming emails from Paralegal's and assistants..never the Attorney. I didnt want to buy software unless I knew it was needed, so they said the attorney would talk to me about it in our meeting. If you're a father I would go elsewhere. If you want to put up a retainer and let them exhaust it on a case easy for them, they will happily oblige. I find it highly unprofessional to refund a retainer and refuse to work with someone because they wanted to reschedule for an in-person strategy session. Especially when the law firm knew there was pending action.

I had one consultation with Mark and before he was even my lawyer he looked at the case and acted as my lawyer and called the opposing lawyer right away to get more details about a ridiculous acquisition i was up against. I worked with Mr. Shields on my family court appeal. He was truly nothing short of amazing. He was kind and patient as I filled him in on the lengthy background of the case. This is my first time having Ashley represent me, she helped me SO much! She was really concise with reading and identifying factors in my case. She has a very professional demeanor and was responsive to my emails and questions. I feel she took enough time and helped me with preparedness for trial. I haven’t received my final orders yet, and I’m writing this already because I’m satisfied. With Ashley I felt defended, properly represented and it gave me confidence I needed. I know these reviews are not legitimate. I had been forced to get an attourney just days after my ordeal began to make sure my custody remains in tact. I hired Ashley because she offered a discounted rate and I had I known the poor representation I was getting with that discounted rate, I would have made sure to avoid this attorney at all costs. My concerns were not addressed at all when I specifically asked her to submit evidence of domestic abuse, it was never submitted and I even had them transcribed as she requested me to do. Anytime I called I was alway getting a run around and never getting answers to very specific questions and major issues in my child’s custody case. They knew there was abuse and coercive control from the opposing party and basically did nothing to really defend me or my son from the opposition which was a male attourney, he took my ex’s claims and concerns seriously anf I wish so badly I could have been represented the same way but you are only as good as your money can buy. Ashley anf Hayley her assistant will give you a run around and will ruin your entire case to make a buck. They should be ashamed and I’m leaving this review in hopes to help others from making the mistake I did to trust her. She’s pushed me to make decisions I wasn’t comfortable with and I remember saying “I guess I have no choice...” because I was in court, scared, confused, basically paralyzed, she still pushed me to go to la professional”, Dr. L, and that was a huge mistake. It only benefited her and my ex’s attourney. (More $ for them) This woman participated in making a traumatic experience even worse for me and my 2 year old than I could have ever known because in the moment I was in the darkest time of my life and she only led me down the wrong path rather than helping me fight which is what I should have done. If I had had a better lawyer they would have fought for my son and I, these woman did an embarrassing job on my case. I went to trial completely unprepped with no documents to refer to when I was being questioned about them. It was pathetic professionally and traumatic for me. Not like it matters to them. Even after my ruling came, I wasn’t given proper examination of the ruling to understand it completely. We should have appealed to somethings had they actually looked into it, they didn’t though. I was alone from the start and wouldn’t recommend this firm to my worst enemy.

I very much enjoyed being represented by Ashley Donovan Law during my recent divorce. It was very important to me that the divorce be fair to all involved. Fortunately at this point in our life that was just myself, now ex, and a beautiful 3 year old boxer. Up front Ashley explained where my version of fair may be different than the courts and properly reset expectations. On the other hand Ashley defended me vigorously, and successfully, when the other side went too far. At the end of the day I liked my attorney, liked myself and didn't dislike my ex anymore than before.
