I have worked professionally and personally with Karen and her staff for over 15 years and I can not say enough good things about all of them. Karen's approach is very rare in the legal profession, in that she truly explores a client's goals, objectives and needs when designing a plan. She then creates a completely customized estate plan, rather than simply changing names and dates in a boiler-plate document - as most attorneys I've encountered tend to do. Further than this, though, Karen and her excellent staff do not stop at the customized documents. An estate plan is absolutely worth nothing more than the paper it is printed on if it is not properly funded and maintained. I hired Michael to put together a will and trust several years ago. He assured me his fees to do the work would cover any changes in the future. He specifically mentioned that a change in marital status would be covered. The reason I give him a low rating is that he did not keep his promise. Several years later after getting married, he wanted to charge me full price to modify my will and trust. While I’m unsure if this is industry standard, it is irrelevant as he baited me with the promise of a comprehensive package. He specifically explained that the initial fee was high because it was a one time, lifetime fee. The last thing I want when hiring an estate attorney is to be taken advantage of after I’m essentially “locked in”. I spoke directly to Mr Meurer about this and he said he’d “cut me a deal” for the misunderstanding - which after comparing to other attorneys was more than double what they charged. Very frustrating. Stay away from this operation!

I was researching for an estate planning lawyer. I was impressed that Temkin states she has the most 5-star reviews in the area, so I did some further research. It is not true. It was easy to find lawyers who have substantially more reviews. I scratched her off my list. I will never trust anyone who engages in false advertising. Temkin Law offers a thorough service. Wendi's calm and organized manner made it easier for us to follow the process through to the end. She answered my questions clearly, until I totally understood the answer. Wendi was very patient and took the time to understand our circumstances and needs. Often questions came up for me after our meetings. She was very timely with her responses to my questions. Wendi asked great questions, that got me thinking in different ways. For example, I used to think "that tree I'd like to buy to plant in the yard is kind of expensive." Now I think about it and say, "Do I want to plant the tree and enjoy watching it grow or do I leave $200 more to one of the many charities we have set up in our estate planning?" Wendi gave us the option of having Temkin Law set up the changes that were necessary to fund the trust we created, or we could do it ourselves with her guidance. We chose to have her make most of the changes for us. She has followed up on several occasions to see that all the transactions had been successfully done. She also sent a letter advising what happens next and to remind us how to add new assets to our trust. Having gone through this process I feel confident that I am not leaving my family with a mess to sort out. I have the comfort in knowing that my future is planned to the best of our knowledge at this time in our lives and that we will review our estate plan with Wendi every three years to make any necessary changes.
