My son was living in another state when he was charged with first degree murder for a crime that had been committed several years ago here in California. As soon as I found out about the arrest I made arrangements to take a plane out the next afternoon. As soon as I made my plane reservation I went on line to find an attorney to potentially represent my son. I needed someone who specialized in homicide. Our family had no prior experience with the legal system as it pertains to criminal defense. I had no idea what to expect. Being that it was after normal office hours I left messages with two attorneys. Within minutes, attorney, Russell Babcock returned my call. I explained the reason for my call. He set a meeting for the next morning so I could meet with him and still make my flight in the afternoon. At our meeting I explained everything I knew about the case. He told me about himself and his experience as well as explaining the process and the sequence of events that would take place. Mr. Babcock made himself available should I need guidance while I was away. I had several questions during that time and needed help getting a Power of Attorney. Mr. Babcock emailed a Power of Attorney form for the state my son was living in and helped me navigate through the process. Once I returned back home I did extensive research on several attorneys. I would have done better with a public defender. Drugs found in a car not registered to me a mile away from my house. The owner was doing bank robberies with that truck but during trial, he didn't even mention it to the jury. Paid him for fingerprint expert, but I didn't see a fingerprint expert. Plus I had 2 cases that I had to pay him separate for and he consolidated them. So the jury heard evidence from both cases. He is OK if you only want a deal but not for trial. 14 years at 80% for sales case
