I was divorced in 2013 in Florida and was represented by Michael Phillips. The details of my experience are horrific. Michael missed many key points and at times I wondered if he any time at all preparing for my case. I spent over $30,000 in attorney fees and ended up paying my ex-spouse $6900 at first with only 2 of 4 of my children in the house even though we lived on $6000 a month with6 people in the house. I had to pay 3 years of bridge the gap even though the law states it should be a maximum of 2 years. The opposing attorney incorrectly stated my salary and Michael did not catch that. This list goes on and on. Do not hire Michael. You are way better off representing yourself. I am a real person that had my life destroyed as a result of this divorce.

Michael Phillips may not be the only family law attorney in Jacksonville, however when it comes to your family legal matters, he is the only one you want representing you. Michael helped me with a modification in child support which also involved other aspects, as family law often does. He was everything I needed in a lawyer. He was compassionately kind with me during the rough moments, knew how to encourage me to persevere through the process, and had a comforting strength that allowed me to put my faith entirely in him. At the initial consultation he told me exactly how we were going to win the case and he did exactly that. He got me everything I wanted and more. He has a wonderful legal assistant, Katy, who was so helpful with everything and literally has the patience of a saint. Paola Parra Harris in deed is a good and knowledgeable attorney when hired her for a simple divorce. The rating of 2 is for the handling of my case. She was hired for a simple divorce that took nearly a year to resolve. I was very patient in finalizing my divorce, despite the staff turnover, misuse of my money , and not providing updates on the case. She transferred my case to another attorney (PJ) several weeks prior to my medication after additional money was requested. PJ failed to due diligence, understand, communication and to accomplish client's goals. She had absolutely no knowledge of my case prior to mediation. Communication with a client is the cornerstone of the client/attorney relationship. The divorce was done poorly , She didn't use the best practice in communicating/ preparation . Paola failed to resolve this issue prior to reaching out to Tallahassee for help. I writing this reviewing in hoping it help some innocent person that good lawyers can also make a mistake by transferring their cases to other attorneys that may not be prepared to handle. Proper and thorough preparation is a key ingredient to a case. I do recommend this firm . Thank you

I can’t say enough times how thankful I am for Parra Harris Law helping me with my divorce. I needed someone on my side. I was with another attorney who was not out for the best interest of my son or I (and never knew who I was when I called). Dear friends of mine put me in contact with Paola the week before Christmas. She was out of town on holiday vacation she called and talked to me and then called her office and had them get me in as I had issues going on that needed immediate attention. Let me remind you this was the week before Christmas. The staff scheduled me an appointment to meet with Mercedes (one of the amazing attorneys in this firm). We sat down and talked, and she agreed to help me and look out for my son's interests as well as mine. Mediation day came and Oh My Goodness... Mercedes represented me so well, she looked over all of the details, kept me from being reactionary in a super emotionally charged situation, and what was supposed to be a 4-hour mediation turned into a nearly 8-hour mediation. Mercedes was amazing in how she handled everything even helping me make sure all of the documents were in order. The Staff and Attorneys at Parra Harris Law are amazing. I met Paola after the divorce was over at a dinner one night (my first time actually meeting her), and she asked how things went. I was overwhelmed with gratitude to someone who helped me during such a critical time, helped me while she was on vacation, made sure I was able to have representation, and she remembered me and the situation (which I will be honest I was not expecting)! Aaron was nice, slick talker, Told me everything that I wanted to hear to get me to sign with him. Told me my case would take 3500.00 payed him. Then never really heard from him for over a year during the case but to give him my financials! Showed up late to our Mediation, never said anything I had to do all the talking. Then We had a early hearing for Alimony! That he didn’t even prepare me for , met me 15min before for a quick chat! We had maybe 3 phone calls and a few emails over a year and a half that cost me $3500.00. He said he lost all the records of the emails his PA did because she quit. He went through a couple more PA’s and I emailed him several times to update my case took him several weeks to respond! He could remember any of the conversation we had in past , and just kept charging me for emails for me to be updated on case! I decided to try to negotiate with my wife myself Because I already paid this hack thousands of dollars and just need him to finish the case! Having to get a new lawyer would had cost me double the money! My X-Wife Attorney would tell us that Aaron was very non responsive and never would return her emails or calls! So I really had to go behind the seen and deal with it my self! Then after we agree on our settlement I get a bill for 1300 more dollars before he would finish the case!! For a few e-mail and a couple call that I had to send to get responses from them! At this point he’s holding my case hostage until he gets money, This case has taken almost 3 years and he didn’t even try to win my case for my benefit, it was more for his convenience! Also to note when I questioned him about things he had a quick temper! Had to bite my tongue a few times! Just wanted this case to end! I would not recommend this firm to anyone! Honestly this review is not because I didn’t get the out come I wanted, This Firm is a Joke Especially Aaron! Take note of this review as you want, but Seriously think about interviewing other Firms before this one!!!

Where do I begin .....Today Mr. David Makofka won the first hearing in a very hard battle I’ve been having with my ex husband. I’m active duty and everyone knows that comes with possible relocation. I brought all my concerns and worries to Mr Makofka from the beginning to the present. He addressed my concerns in full, he explained the process of requesting a relocation and told me it would be no easy battle. Charles Willmott is definitely an attorney I recommend if you are seeking a family law or divorce attorney in Jacksonville. He is extremely professional even when certain parties are in emotional duress based on the circumstances. He has a process. He does not run up your bill on unnecessary paperwork and throughout the entire divorce process I felt as if he was working toward and making recommendations that supported my desired end result. Charles is extremely 'real' with his clients. I felt informed on possible outcomes regardless if it was what I wanted to hear. One recommendation I have is that if you feel you need check-ins or sanity updates on your case, then don't be afraid to ask for those because if nothing is going on, it's not like he's going to reach out and ask if you are doing 'okay.' That's not his job. However, if you want to vent, his assistant is awesome for a quick sanity rant. I won't be getting married ever again but if I did, I would have no problem hiring Charles for a second divorce.

Divorce is a highly emotional trauma to go through. I was so disappointed with the first firm I used (Adsum,they should be avoided ). I looked at reviews online and I contacted Mr. Wilmott`s office and from the first contact I was totally at ease and felt like I was being listened to and more importantly, understood. After switching over, it became even more apparrent how poorly I had been represented before, as I was very quickly involved in the process and I was kept fully informed and helped with every step of the way. The thing I found most helpful was how to fill out the forms and what the lawyers would fill out on my behalf. As I would guess, most people would go through this just once so we have zero experience with this process. I was left to my own devices by the first firm, but with Charles and Jackie I felt from minute one that I was in very safe hands and this proved to bethe case. My case was settled at mediation, but had it gone to the court I always felt that I would be safe and my interests looked after. It was interesting when Charles and I appeared before the Judge for the final hearing, She made a point of thanking him for being so prepared. That spoke volumes as far as I was concerned. Go nowhere else if you need a professional to look after you. I would totally recommend Charles and Jackie Wilmott. I feel that it is important to recognize that it is a team effort and apart from being excellent at their jobs, they are truly nice people. I actually enjoyed the interaction. It seems like an odd thing to say about a divorce, but it certainly made my experienc of divorce a far less painful process than it could have been. Thank you.
